Bush lover? So if someone doesn't oppose Bush that means they are a Bush lover? I don't oppose him but I don't agree with everything he says. Does that mean I am a Bush lover? Also what does it matter if someone is? That is about as bad as saying "Don't tell me you're an anti-American and a flag burner".

So...with what do you agree with him?

Gas the homosexuals?
Have school in a church?
Kill for oil?
Give money to the rich?
Kill everyone not agreeing with you?
Burn witches?
Making an ass of yourselfe?

would you be so kind and tell us what? Thank you

ups...sorry for derailing the thread again...so have you ever thought who, will that money teach forgein languages?

and another thing...can you be sure that money is going to educatin what if it is redirected to "something else", is the national budget really transparent, who gets what...it's not the first time bush lied?

North America focking sucks as far as languages go. Most people can't even speak english without sounding like total jackasses......Ahem....

Many Europeans have learned the ability to speak multiple languages from a young age, which is absolutely awesome in my opinion. Canada is slightly better than the States, I suppose, seeing as how French is taught during elementary school, albeit poorly I guess.

In the Southwest here most know Spanish. If not fluently most have the ability for limited communication with it.

i can see these being optional courses in high school

I am sure it will be. My high school offered spanish and french as optional languages to take. It would be nice to have more options. I wish I could go back and take a few of these new languages they will offer. Chinese would rock.

If Bush wants education to have an effect on the future of America, he should invest in say, English, Science, and Math.

There is alreadys hit loads of money invested into education...

Most kids throw that away anyways. So what is the harm in broadening the education for those willing to embrace it?

in my country we learn two other languages, english and arabic.
the educational system however spends more time on learning arabic grammer than speaking it...

Where are you from?

Learning different languages can only be a good thing. I wish I'd paid more attention in French lessons, I'd be great to be able to speak it fluently.

On the educational aspect, it's a great improvement. But $114 millions could be priorly invested in humanitarianism, before being expensed in superficial linguistic courses.

So the $16.2 billion (plus another $33.6 billion) we give away ain't enough? Strange, even with only $16.2 billion, we still contribute more humanitarian aid than France, Germany, or any other European nation for that matter. I guess we're greedy mother****ers, with donating more money to causes than any other in the world and all...

Actual dollar contributions reveal that the U.S. is the world’s largest donor. The OECD calculates U.S. development assistance (based on bilateral assistance, humanitarian assistance, and contributions to multilateral institutions like the International Development Association of the World Bank) in 2003 at $16.2 billion—more than double the amount given by France, Germany, or any other European nation.[2] Japan is second at $8.9 billion.

Private aid is ignored. These numbers do not include private assistance. This is not a major factor for most other nations because private charity is not large in most countries. It is a gigantic oversight when calculating America’s aid ratio, however, because the U.S. Agency for International Development estimated that private assistance was $33.6 billion in 2000.[3] Therefore, the calculations upon which Egelund based his criticism severely shortchange the generosity of the United States.

How about he spends 114 million dollars on teaching English to the internet?

'Yeah, like, i speak American'...you speak BAD ENGLISH!

For the most part, people who haven't grown up around Arabic can't learn it. It is really complicated.

There are 24 or 25 "letters" and 5 or so "vowels" that can be applied to any letter. There are different rules on each letter on where they appear in a word or a sentence. It can be done, but it's really quite difficult for the average person to really learn Arabic. The money is better spent teaching Americans math, science and engineering.

there are 33 letters and 6 vowels, a word can be a subject, object, or all the other positions like in english, however there are other positions that a word could have in arabic, such as "haal", "khabar: kaana/inna/kaenna/....(about 12 more)", "esm: inna/ kaana/ kaenna/... (again that 12 others)", "tameez", and... i could go on for a page if you'd like to...
