they said they're hoping for an end of summer release. that's about as accurate as we're gonna get, but given the track record of this game nothing is set in stone.

It would be really stupid for Valve to release a beta of an add-on game for thier new engine instead of releasing HL2. HL2 is what they designed thier engine for not CS:S. CS:S is just a bonus.

i don't think they plan on releasing a beta version to the public. they mean beta as in the phase the game is in when they test it for bugs.
