Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, stoked?

It does looks pretty damn sweet. Anyone got a release date on it? I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Interested - yes
Hyped - not majorly

that actually looks better than i thought it would!

After reading the newest game informer article on CoD 4 Im extremely pumped for this game it sounds like its gonna really put CoD back on the map!!

I'm looking forward to playing it, but if I miss it, no big deal.

The trailer's cool, but... The CoD franchise is horrible. If I'm to buy this game, it needs to be completely different.

i'm interested too
not stoked though
if they can do something more innovative with the series then ya, it'll be awesome

Futuristic Warfare FTW!!!

Let other franchises take care of modern warfare.

Not all that interested in it, looks more like a CoD mod than a full title

Is this one going to come out for the PC?

As of now, nope. Xbox360 and PS3 title only. It's just the rising costs of PC development has really started to kick their asses so they decided to go console only.

I've stated this before, but this is why programs like Games for Windows and making titles Vista only is necessary to keep PC gaming alive. Even bigger bonus if you make it DX10 only since you would only have one OS and few hardware choices to deal with which makes developing and testing MUCH MUCH easier. With only one OS to test on, and making titles go through certifications to make sure they meet standards, it is going to help the PC market and make it prosper more.

It saddens me because IW used to do only PC titles :(

*Edit* Oh, and hell yea I'm excited. Getting it for Xbox360 for sure!

Not that excited. The trailer is not great imho, but this may be good if they can make it seem less like the prvious CoDs because I am just tired of them.

I thought this one was only PC for right now...

*runs off to Charlie Oscar Delta forums to check*

Edit: It's totally for PC

But it's on Live Marketplace though, isn't it? I haven't checked. I heard it was going console only, then I saw stuff about PC only, and now I'm seeing mixed...

Either way, I think it looks fantastic. I love the COD games and I really wnat to see some more modern stuff. Just hope the mandatory tank driving levels are handed to the British. :D Hell, I just want to play as the British in all the detail and then some that Project Reality has created.

EDIT: Wiki says 360, PC and PS3. Hoo... zah?

Looking sweet, loved all the CoD games and looks like this wont disapoint, most likely take over the multiplayer scene from CoD 2 lol.

The trailer sucks...the only way this game is going to be good is if its nothing like Cod...

Operation Flashpoint 2.

Anyways, I'm not really excited for the game a whole lot... although it'll be one of the few non-low budget arcadey modern warfare games out there.

Game 2 =/= Operation Flashpoint 2

OFP 2 will be developed and published by Codemasters, who own the rights to OFP

Game 2 will be developed by Bohemia Interactive. Who made OFP. Though I suppose you could argue that game 2 is actually Operation Flashpoint 2 in spirit.

I like to think it will be a whole new frontier in interactive entertainment, hence 'Game 2'.

The trailer's nice and all and I like mad shootery as much as the next man but...I can't help thinking "so what?"

Now, if they'd managed to construct a dynamic, emergent environment which accurately simulated modern warfare...a scared, divided, potentially hostile populace, insurgents hiding in plain sight, collateral damage, the press, surgical strikes, riot control...all generating on the fly in a large and carefully-crafted environment where a player's actions affect the warzone (don't set off a riot) and their human cost is truly brought home...

...if they'd made a game like this, like a cross between Operation Flashpoint's bravura realism/freeform action and SWAT 4's human conscience/sensible approach, with the first campaign being an OpFlash style invasion of a small state and finally its capital city, the second campaign forcing you to deal with street patrols among civilians, with riots, insurgents, stone-throwing mobs and children with hand grenades, and the third campaign pitching you into a full-scale uprising against the occupying forces (you)...

...then I'd be interested.

Hey, someone should make that!

Sort of like a sandbox game, only with better combat.

Literally a sandbox game.. heh heh

Better design it Sulk, I'll be the first to buy.

Thank God they finally decided to fast forward and move away from the oh-so-tapped-out WWII genre. I swear, one more WWII game and I'm going to vomit. Unless it took place on the Eastern Front. AFAIK, Red Orchestra is one of the only games that did this, and although I would've liked a campaign mode, it was a step in the right direction.

But yes, COD4 looks pretty cool.

I agree, that sounds really cool.

I know this game isn't set around the actual conflict in Iraq, but theres some similaritys in there. Thing is, if you've ever seen any Youtube videos or that show Dispatches: Fighting the Taliban, you see that conflict and fighting in Iraq is about the furthest away from anything COD has ever laid hands on. In COD games, it's move forward and then enemies rush out in front of you and take cover behind objects, etc. Whereas when you see these videos and documentarys in Iraq, combat between troops is usually between an unseen foe, sometimes even just one gunman firing from a rooftop before retreating back to avoid return fire.

I... don't know how to properly explain it, and I obviously don't speak complete fact as I've never been there, but if the devs. could capture this sort of combat instead of the typical major raging firefights that go between 10 v 10 in a street full of handy barricades, I'd love them.

I just want to get away from the gung-ho attitude of COD. I don't want the guy next to me firing off millions of rounds and running into combat getting shot but not dying. I want short bursts of rounds, soldiers staying behind cover to avoid just one shot, whereas in COD games soldiers can take around 10 in the face without dying. Basically, they just need to go search 'marines iraq' or 'tanks in basrah' in Youtube and capture that effect.

That game concept sounds sexual. And I too like the idea of combat taking place between "unseen" foes. That's what made OFP so nerve-wracking. You could never rely on your enemies just popping out from a corner and rushing you. There were so many times where you'd have to hunker down once you came under enemy fire. You had to scan the battlefield, pinpoint the enemy, and take him out before he retreats to bite you in the ass later. At each moment in the game, you always kept in mind the possibility that somebody far off in the distance could pop a bullet into your head without any forewarning.

Also, hearing the sounds of armored vehicles approaching from far off sent a shiver down my spine every time. I have yet to play another game that has filled me with such paranoia and dread.

GOD DAMN, they really need to release Operation Flashpoint 2!

For the last time, OPERATION FLASHPOINT 2 WILL SUCK!

It's being done by a completely seperate in-house development team from Codemasters, all screens except the most recent ones are of Bohemia's OFP2, that was renamed Game2.

Game2 will kick ASS, because it will mix in simulation, RPG aspects alongside a fully dynamic campaign that's a REAL war not scripted!:)

Game 2 will feel like warm joy being pumped up your rectum.
