Alrighty, Tommorow I'm going to finally get Call of Duty...
But first I'd like some answers to a few questions...

1 ) Is the multiplayer solid(hows the lag, playerbase, etc.)?
2 ) Is the singleplayer satisfying(story, voice acting, graphical effects)?
3 ) Is the expansion pack worth buying?

...And yes I've played the demos...but they don't really give me much insight.
Dawnville was pretty damn fun though.

For UO, I hated that man-the-mg-while-going-on-a-roller-coaster-ride mission in the demo...

1) Great. No lag when I played. Lots of players.
2) One of the best WWII single player shooters every. A bit short maybe.
3) One of the best expansion packs I have ever played. They added vehicles for the multiplayer.

I say go for it.

2. Story is garbage, voice acting is terrible, graphics are ...ok ..not great by todays standards. It's comic book ww2 as usual, you vs the entire german army. Though that's extremely popular among many people enjoy it!

Personallly i got a bit sick of it after MOHAA.

2.The story is WWII. You follow a few different groups of people through certain sections of the war. Theres nothing in the way of over-arching plot, but it is enjoyable. The graphics are aging (Quake 3 engine), but can be run at top settings easily now. Voice work is excellent. Unlike most WWII games its not you vs the entire german army, and you almost constantly have squadmates with you, if not an entire army. Although you're still a bit of a superhuman soldier, that keeps it fun.
3. The expansion is excellent and definitly worth the very small price now if you enjoyed the main game. Definitely more challenging than the main game too.

Every where I look, the expansion is still $30...same with CoD.
Awkward...Hmmm...
The deluxe edition comes with the expansion and patches...and is only $40...
Zing! Better than paying 60 bucks for both.

I found CoD to be a fantastic game, best WW2 one i've ever played. It was action packed and loads of fun all the way through. MP was also fun, I liked the fact that I could prone and lean.

MP is great, so many people playing it still, well UO that is.

Very solid, very fun!

Oh, and definetely buy the expansion pack, because I'm in the manual! :)

Yes, go to

C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\UODocs\Help\Credits\credits.htm

Scroll down until you see Visioneer Moderators, and then I'm Brian Hughes.

Basically I just beta tested the game, and organized playtests and all that fun stuff for the game. Like a few months before release they had it playable at Quakecon, and I was one of the people playing there, just so it wasn't full of complete noobies, so they could ask questions and all that fun stuff :) hehe

Well, the MP is a bit of a mixed one. Some people like it, some don't. It's not all that bad, but it isn't really anything that's going to set the world on fire.

The SP is very good, but it sticks to a VERY linear path, which might turn some people off if they've gotten used to games like Far Cry. Also, some of the levels in about the middle of the game are a bit of a let down, but overall the SP is pretty high quality and good fun.

As for the expansion pack, wait until you've finished the game first, then think about it. From what I saw, it's basically more of the same, so I'd make sure you like CoD before buying the expansion pack aswell.

......
1) yes i play it all the time, theres a tonne of modes and gametypes, uo though is where the mp is at these days with the extra modes like ctf, domination etc

2)yes, story is the usual ww2 fair, tbh i felt more emotion for the men in cod than bia, the amount of npcs onscreen is insane particurly in uo(aa & af etc). Sound is still probably the best ever for a ww2 game, its loud to say the least. Graphics are pretty nice as long as you can max it out, character models look a little dated, theres no ragdolls etc but it looks good, textures are good particurly on uo.

decals are excellent too, it has blood :O , the smoke is the best i've ever seen, uo in particular has some very nice, large environments like the sicily mission and the 1 in the bomber. The brit missions generally suck except for pegasus bridge, the bomber 1 and maybe sicily in uo.

3)yes, particurly for mp, the sp missions are alot bigger if somewhat overwhelming @ times, very frantic.

Well, I'm sold.
Grabbing Call of Duty...putting the expansion on hold.
Thanks all.

CoD is a waste, save the money for BF2
Don't worry about that, I've got money on the side for BF2. :cat:

Why not get Call of Duty Deluxe edition? It's 15 bucks more, and includes CoD and the expansion pack... Expansion pack by itself is like 30 bucks or something, so it's really an awesome deal to get CoD:UO...

Plus, you get vehicles and flamethrowers in UO

Also, new gametypes like Base Assault, and I think CTF is exclusive to CoD:UO, can't remember.

Anyways you gotta get the expansion man, it's awesome.. Seroiusly :p

Exactly what I got a few hours ago...

Oh my god, this game...is insane!
I just got to the Stalingrad mission, it feels just like the Omaha level in MoH!
I'm loving it so far. :D

wootwoot awesome dude, hope you enjoy it, wait till you get to the expansion, things increase 10 fold, npcs etc.

CoD is defenitely a game you should experience, especially if you like WWII shooters. But I see you've already decided you're buying it. Have fun with it.

EDIT: I see you've reached the stalingrad beach assault. My fav is the one after that, the "suicide run"

You do know that some of the guys on CoD did make Medal of Honor Allied Assault (and thus the famous Omaha Beach level) right?

Well, man you will be orgasmic when CoD2 gets released this fall, because they are remaking that level, and it's going to be better than the one they made for Moh!!!

Go to www.planetcallofduty.com and look for the 13 minute video of CoD2 in action... It's amazing ;)

Yeah, I knew that...
And oh...my...fcuking...god
That video was amazing, the graphics are so crisp.
The smoke effects are awe-inspiring.
I never would've figured that Point would be so action packed.

Beach level once, it's exciting. Beach level twice, it's good. Beach level thrice? Overkill in my opinion.

I won't be purchasing CoD2
