ok, i have a
amd xp 2400
9500 pro
768 mb pc2100

my motherboard (as i have found out, AND read in reviews) is not very good at overclocking cpu's. I need to know which would be the better purchase for this system: a 9800 pro, or an amd xp 3000 (or xp 2800). I can upgrade one, but i dont know which would help performance more in hl2. Thanks

instead of getting an AMD XP get an AMD 64, they are much better. And cheap too. Also your ram is a lil outdated so you might wanna upgrade that.

You can't put an Athlon 64 in an Athlon XP mobo, get the 9800 Pro

Yes, let him get a AMD 64 for an XP board, gee he's going to have fun mounting it on the wall. 64 bits aren't cheap, XP's are cheap. Ram upgrade would probably mean a new board, so all in all, I go with what blahblahblah said.

Things aren't as simple as you think B.Calhoun.

Shit relax. And i dont know what you consider cheap cause my 64 was.....then again not everyone has a job.

ok, i think i'll go with the 9800 pro. i WOULD upgrade the memory, but my board only goes up to pc2700, which im pretty sure wouldnt be a worthwhile improvement
