Ok people bought Half life 2 other day, played the game thought it was bloody fantastic, runs perfectly no lag what so ever.
But here's the problem, i come to play the new counter strike: Source, and when it loads no servers available. the message i receive is "cannot connect to master game server - connection refused". I Had the first counter strike and that ran fine too, i have a perfect running steam account and my ping never goes above 30. so what the hell is going on with counter strike: source. I'm getting well frustrated with it now after waiting for so long then not being able to play it even though its in the palm of my hands. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! ;(

Same Problem...

Hey There,

Though I can't offer any help, I can add that I have been having exactly the same problem. My steam account works fine, my internet connection is functioning properly, and if I right click on Steam, and view Servers, I can actually see all of the Counter Strike Source games going on. However if I try to join one of these games, I am unable to connect.

If I start up CS: Source and try to find servers, it delivers the message that it 'Cannot find servers as it cannot connect to the master game server.' I've absolutely no idea what is going on - can anybody shed any light on this?

Cheers!

Hey guys,
A friend had the same problem, and I corrected it by disabling norton internet security professional. If you have this software, disable it when u try to play : it blocks incoming/outcoming data from the net.
If you don't have it, the problem must be similar : try to check your firewalls and prevent them from stopping data.
Well, hope you'll be fine with this.

Hey,
I had the same problem. I am on a wireless network, and my router has it's own firewall. I tried opening the right ports but that didn't work, so I put a firewal on my pc and made sure the other pc's had a firewall as well and turned off the router firewall and it works fine, my connection anyway, still freezes for about 10 secs every now and again. But if you have a firewall somewhere which you can't make recognise the .exe then it won't let you connect.
