Fast forward to 2:42 and watch from there.

What explanations can you guys come up with?

God ive seen this posted on multiple forums and each time i say the same thing:

Even if it was a real phone, it would be ****ing USELESS. There were no sattelites or networks during that time, so the phone wouldnt work for shit.

It just goes to show how a seemingly innocent thing as an itchy face that needs scratching, can transcend time and space, in order to prove the existance of such stupidity.

Unless there was an invisible wormhole over her head leading to the future, enabling the phone to pick up the signal from there. I've been watching too much Stargate LOL.

I think the most likely explanation is that it's a crazy person, holding a chocolate bar, or a book up to her ear and talking to it. However I don't get what is up with the fading effect.

... she's not holding anything. What's the big deal?

Yea I like your explanation the most. Makes sense.

Just wanted to get opinions.

Oh wow a person with their hand on their face TIME TRAVEL

However I don't get what is up with the fading effect.
That's uhh... how it is in the original footage?

Actually if you pause rapidly at 4:11, 4:12, 4:13 etc..you can definitely see something black in their hand, or something.

Could be anything. She could be holding a watch to her ear to check if it was ticking.

Direct Quantum-Entangled Communication

Altough I was tempted to say he was holding a high-heel or cucumber to his face. Where was the film shot, and when?

Looks like she is covering her face to keep from being filmed.

I found the answer somewhere online. Its supposedly actually Chaplin. In some instances when he is out of extras for scenes, he dresses up in heavier clothing, with make-up or even cross dressed. The heavy garments are used to both mask himself, and to conceal a radio system (along with a power line running out the bottom of his garments) to talk to people off set.
I'm not seeing any wire though.
