Chimp goes ape, rips woman's face off

goddam some seriously disturbing revelations about the chimp attacks story:

Animal experts said the almost-human relationship between Travis the chimpanzee and his owner might have played a role in his savage attack on a woman.

Sandra Herold, from Stamford, Connecticut, gave Travis the finest food, and wine in long-stemmed glasses; they took baths together and cuddled in the bed they shared; Travis brushed the lonely widow's hair each night and pined for her when she was away; and if she left the house alone, Travis would give her a kiss.

Apparently the victim:
- had her nose bitten off
- had her eyes eaten
- had most of her scalp ripped off.

goddam double posts, the internet is caught in a cascading time loop

Had her eyes eaten? Oh my god... I feel terrible for that woman.

Stupid ****ing dumbass owner.

the problem it seems was that she treated it too mcuh like a human. it sounds like the chimp was jealous

Orangutans, my favorite great ape, are even stronger than a chimp.

But you won't see them doing this kind of stuff to humans. They are far more gentler towards humans and are mainly only aggressive towards other orangutans.

If this sort of thing happened with an orangutan it would be rare indeed.

on a class trip to the zoo when I was young the class idiot was acting like an ass in front of the orangutan cage. he's tap the window, press his face against it, all the while the largest orangutan watched from about 20 feet away. all of the sudden the orangutan lunged at the plexiglass where the class idiot was standing and slammed the window with both fists make a huge sound and scaring the shit out of the class idiot ..he literally screamed like a girl and ran around the corner shaking like a leaf. if there had been no window he's be a bloody pulp on the floor that day

Kids aren't humans. Your point is invalid.

Pfft. That wasn't an orangutan! That was a god damn chimp in disguise.

I'm hard pressed to find cases of orangutan violence against humans. Even though it does occasionally happen it's incredibly rare.

This one below was involved in an incident and was shot with a stun gun.

Humans are the most peaceful of animals.

pwahahahahahahhahhahahhahahahahahhahahaa

and humans are by far the least peaceful animals, with all our useless inventions like money

I already knew about this before but...

According to "Visions of Caliban: On Chimpanzees and People" by famed primatologist Jane Goodall and Dale Peterson, the original "Clyde" was trained with a can of mace and a pipe wrapped in newspaper. He was viciously beaten the day before filming started to make him more docile. Near the end of filming the sequel "Any Which Way You Can," the orangutan was caught stealing doughnuts on the set, brought back to the training facility and beaten for 20 minutes with a 3 1/2 -foot ax handle. He died soon after of a cerebral hemorrhage.

It's sob worthy.

It's hard to imagine surviving in that state. I mean most of your face and your hands are gone. I mean granted you can't see that your head doesn't look like a human head anymore but... where do you go from there? Granted one day the swelling will go down and at some point some sort of prosthetic face can make you look at least something like you did before... but even in the foreseeable future I don't think it can do that much for her. Crazy stuff though.

I remember that video.

BECAUSE I'VE SEEN IT IN MY NIGHTMARES EVERY NIGHT SINCE

Man, i fell so bad for that woman.
Let this be a lesson to all those who own dangerous pets.... well damn, cat's have claws, dogs have jaws... guess this kinda thing is unpredictable...

Cats and dogs, being domesticated for thousands of years, are considerably more predictable than animals not far removed at all from their wild ancestry.

They also don't have anywhere near the strength to do what that chimp could do. The sheer strength of a chimp to completely destroy me with his hands without even trying terrifies me.

Of course Oprah is the one who convinces her to show everyone her face.

^ Classic comedy.

Also, poor Officer Combine.
