Christian Bale goes crazy (AUDIO)

Judging by what Bale says it's clear that this isn't the first time Bale has said this and apparently the guy didn't take any notice. That's why he goes over board on him.

He was angry probably because he expected the guy to quietly listen to his outburst and, I dunno, go sulking in the corner. Instead, the cinematographer kept talking with him, not letting Bale just yell at him and then shut him up. Which was a good thing IMHO. Apologetic, but at the same time not letting Bale give him shit.

Bale did act a bit like a prick, but it's not like I'll officially consider him a twat from now on. He probably had a tough day.
 
What annoys me about this exchange is the abuse of the power relationship between these two people. I mean it's obvious that Bale is more important to the movie than whoever this peon is. As a high profile actor, what you can't do - at least if you're hoping for people to continue to respect you - is flaunt that importance, or think it makes you just More Important (full stop, as a human). By telling the guy he's going to have him fired if he doesn't shut up, Bale is JUST trying to cow the guy and intimidate him with his own importance. There's no semblance of good honest 'F*CK YOUR MOTHER!' style ranting there, that shit is just not on. Same goes for him threatening to beat the guy up; implicit in that threat is: 'I'm CHRISTIAN ****ING BALE, so you know you wouldn't dare TOUCH this face, IT'S WORTH MILLIONS OF $$$$$$!!!'

Try to imagine a similar scenario, with Bale pissed off and tired, putting his all into a scene and having it ruined multiple times - this time by Gary Oldman botching his lines. My money would be on Bale not having the guts to utter a word of this smacktalk.
 
it's pretty hard to judge whether or not he over reacted without having been there
but it sounds to me like his frustration and anger were pretty well justified

i think nothing less of him.

Respect! Love this guy! Again don't judge without knowing what really happened. But it sounds like he was really into the scene a few times and this guy messed it up.

Ouch. Though yeah, we don't know the context. That guy may have a better business card or something. Or perhaps it didn't even happen?
 
What's interesting about this is that he's staying in his character's accent even though he's completely lost it. Guy's a pro.
 
News flash: Christian Bale is a human being.
 
Bale is acting like a dick, but it is EXTREMELY against set etiquette for anyone, short of the Director, to budge during an active take.
 
I wish somewhere in his rant he would have said-

Reading it again, and someone as high up as the DoP should know better then to be moving around in the backround. He kind of deserves the shit hes getting.
 
sane ones don't go over the top for something like that for more than 3 minutes.
 
The DP could have been screwing around and ****ing up numerous scenes before this incident. From the sound of this tirade it sounded like this wasn't the first time. It also sounds like he was talking shit from the small bits you hear in the audio, so im willing to bet thats what ended up extending the yelling.

He's not getting pissed off at the other actor in the scene for fluffing their lines, he's getting pissed off at the guy who is ****ing around in the background and distracting him during the filming of a scene.

Bale has the blow up, but then he wants to get back into the scene (he's clearly in the zone) and it's because everyone else is like 'let's have a break' that he blows up further.

As to Bale blowing up further, it was just the dudes smarmy comments. Everytime it sounded like bale was going to cool down you hear the guy mumbling something. Best part being when bale actually says "You're a nice guy you just need to stop walking around" and the guys like "but the lights"
 
And then you find out the guy has some rare disease where the lights can't be shown on his skin for too long or he gets very sick and gets cancer or something, and there happened to be ONE light out of place shining on him he was trying to move so he doesn't have to get cancer treatment again and here Bale is all like "F*CKING-A MANNNNN"

Asshole!!!
 
Some people don't understand professional courtesy. But it was an over-reaction on Bale's part, he should have dealt with it then left it. What a character flaw.


Would like to know the full story behind this.
