Christian Bale goes crazy (AUDIO)

His movies constitute a larger part of my real life than his real life does.

>The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.

>The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shit down before the scene starts.

>Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.

Pretty much exactly what I've been saying.

Look up the remix of this audio..it's a must hear.

I must have missed the bit where Bale 'politely tells the guy to cease and desist' - I can't be sure he never did, but I have no reason to speculate that he did.

I guess you missed the part where Bale goes on about it being the second time. Clearly the horror of it all was too much for you and you'd passed out on the floor or some such by that point and missed the rest of the audio

Feel free to boycott the movie, cry into your pillow, or write a strong letter to Boris Johnson about it if it makes you feel better mind. Personally I won't be losing any sleep over an actor dressing down a chump of a middling DP myself :dozey:

I like how it says he's a fairly young DP. I mean come on, the guy is 44-45 years old and has had his degree almost half his life(and work experience for I think a quarter). How old are the other DP's... 60? 80? With 40 years of experience under their belt?

It's also been said that the guy was apologizing to Christian Bale and being calm about the whole thing... but Bale was just losing it. It's funny how that aintitcool guy is talking about "actors are people too, blah blah blah treat them respect blah blah blah" and goes and totally tries to flip the entire thing on the shoulders of this light guy.

Two lines from that article that make me laugh when looked at side by side.

First:

And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do.

Second:

This moment was something that occurred in the heat of a moment on set between professionals.

What the hell are you on about? 'The rest of the audio'... where he politely told the guy to stop...? Like you claim? That didn't happen. Just because he says it's the second time it's happened, it doesn't mean he 'politely' told the guy to 'cease and desist' the first time, or even that he said anything to him at all! Seriously, wtf...? It's seeming more and more like people have reflexively concocted their own fantasy version of events to support their latent Bale-worship.

'Ah, but it must have happened loads of times...'
'What the DP did was pathetic!'
'He told him once politely to stop...'

What is this fantasy extra footage that people have seen?? Such nonsense. Stick up for someone you admire, that's your prerogative, but don't try and make out that I've overlooked some make believe event.

And obviously I didn't miss the part where Bale said it had happened twice - I pointed that out to YOU In response to the claim that the DP had done whatever he did 'continually'!
Feel free to boycott the movie, cry into your pillow, or write a strong letter to your congressman about it if it makes you feel better mind. Personally I won't be losing any sleep over an actor dressing down a chump of a middling DP myself :dozey:
I won't be boycotting the movie, nor will I be going to see it. I'll go back to my previous state of not caring, like how I was before this thread first revealed to me that there was even going to be a Terminator 4. I guess you think it suits your purposes to flex your apathy muscles in an attempt to make other people look hysterical, but when it comes to celebrity apathy I'm pretty ripped.

What offends me is the principle, propounded by some, that people should be automatically excused for treating other people like a piece of shit if they're under a bit of stress or have a professional grievance, or because 'it happens all the time'. Treating people like a piece of shit because you're a bit stressed, have a professional grievance and an inflated sense of your own authority is a triple no-no, regardless of whether it happens to be Bale or anyone else.

As for the AintItCool article, what a sycophantic joke:
"YOU PATHETIC GOSSIPHOUNDS!! THIS SITE WON'T BE PANDERING TO YOU!

BTW I'm somewhere where I'm near a person who was in a place where they were in close proximity on the day to a place where the movie set and the shooting is, and SHE saaaaid, something vague and insignificant that you can pretty much make out from the audio, so THE DP SUCKS AND STOP CRITICISING BALE geez!!!!!'

The guy ****ed up, and bale screamed at him. The end.

Props to bale for wanting to keep doing the scene too. Any other actor probably would've had a gigantic fit about it and stormed off to his trailer.

Meh, I'm a consumer whore, what the **** do I care about the creative process. I don't even bother with the making of when I buy a DVD. I mean, it's no secret Gary Busey (for example) is a gigantic asshole, but goddamnit if he isn't entertaining.

lol I got puns guyuz

Whoa you guys are still arguing over this?

After hearing about this now it seems bale was pretty right in what he was doing o_O

This was played on the BBC News this morning, all conveniently bleeped to mask the swearing. Apart from the second time, when they played the original clip, unedited, for long enough to get some choice epithets aired. Wonderful.

Wow this is the first time I heard of this.
I love Christian even more now:LOL:.

Yeah, my brother heard him apologizing on his local radio station this morning.

wow, what a piece of shit. @ first post.

Rest of thread, I didn't read.

For those who don't know, yes there will be at least 2 more Terminator's after this one.

I've been telling people that they're "****IN' AMATUERS!" for a week, but apparently I'm the only one who has heard the recording.

Are you sure they're not just telling you to stop because it's "****IN' DISTRAAAAAACTIIIIIIIIIIING."
