Publisher Electronic Arts and magazine PC Gamer have pulled back the iron curtain, revealing the existence of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. The game marks the first entry in the spin-off RTS series to hit since the Yuri's Revenge Red Alert 2 expansion pack in 2001.

With the title featured in PC Gamer, a PC version is a given, though it is not yet known if it will arrive on a console or consoles a la EA Los Angeles' Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium War (PC, X360).

More details on Red Alert 3 are expected when the issue hits stores March 4. The game signifies EA's growing interest in the Command & Conquer brand, with two other C&C efforts--the C&C3 expansion pack Kane's Wrath (PC, X360) and the squad-based shooter Tiberium (PC, PS3, X360)--currently under development.

The attraction for the first one with me was making a giant "fuse" of sympathetically detonating demo trucks that would all over the level and ended in the computer's base. :D

EPIC WIN!

EA, please don't screw it up.

Also allow LAN play to be permitted without CD-Key checks (so I can play with my family).

Excited much?

Hmmm.

This may be good.

But unless Kane shows up to shoot the American President in the head in one of the endings I'm not going to be too excited.

...

Wait, hot Soviet chickies?

I'M EXCITED.

Wait, more hot Soviets?

MORE B-GRADE FMV?

I'M EXCITED.

God, I hope they stop that bloody camera shaking though. That really annoyed the crap out of me. Stick to RA2-style FMV, please!

NO!

**** NO!

How many more USSR/Rest-of-the-world wars are they planning to fit between 1952 and 1995?

I'm assuming this one will probably be in the 90s.

Just a guess, of course.

Expected response from asuka ;)

Although admittedly I'm glad that this has been announced :D

If it's in the 90s should the tiberium comet arrive? ;)

I just wondering what direction it will take, hopefully Yuri has gone forever and we can focus on something much more facinating, storywise.

Milked much...?

This'll be like Renegade D:

If this game only matches the epic RA2 intro and the ridiculously awesome FMV's... then ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!

Hmmm. I wonder if they kill off Einstein.

I wonder how they will plan the story of how the USSR resurrects itself again.

Given that the RA and C&C universes are entirely separate, no.

They started out linked in RA 1, with Kane and NOD involved in the Soviet campaign.

RA2 diverged from this, but it's possible there could still be appearance of tiberium.

Urgh, the C&C Timeline still confuses me to this day. I gave up trying to get my head around it after drawing one.

Who gives a shit about technical shit.

ITS FUGGIN RED ALERT 3!

Hell March, must be present. I will play for just that song.

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUN DUN. *thud thud thud thud*.

DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUN DUN. DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

No Westwood, no care.

Nope :(

Frank Klepacki who did Hell March now works for Petroglyph so no Hell March!

And I am with Pi about the universes not being linked.

So what's your interpretation of Kane and Nod in Red Alert?

Nope :(

They used to be linked. Not so anymore.

And I thought EA owned the license for Hell March? Besides, Mr. Klepacki has expressed interest in composing new C&C games... they'd better try and get him.

Urgh, the C&C Timeline still confuses me to this day. I gave up trying to get my head around it after drawing one.

http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

Compiled by me, adopting an NMA stance "former invalidates the latter". So, Red Alert (but not subsequent RA games) is linked to Tiberian Dawn, TW1 happened between 1999 and 2002 ("three years" time frame is taken directly from GDI outros) with none of that 2020 bullshit Westwood tried to push through with Renegade.

Later (post 2000) dates come from manuals and the Intel Database from TW.

They got thrown out of the timeline with RA2 to be blunt :p

I know the whole timeline on Earth gets messed up in RA2, but why do you think that would affect the Scrin seeding Tiberium?

Surely the Scrin would exist just the same in all timelines.

but why do you think that would affect the Scrin seeding Tiberium?

Maybe the Scrin are afraid of

Yeah they may exist, but unless the Tiberium meteorite fell after RA2 then there is no need for the Scrin to come to earth.

For me RA2 is where the RA series is taking its lead from.

Given that the RA and C&C universes are entirely separate, no.

Not true, they are ultimately the same universe. Kain takes part in RA games. After RA1 he went into hiding to form his massive NOD army. (im half joking)
