CNC: Red Alert 3

Those are fake.

The ones on the official RA3 website make them seem genuine to me

http://www.ea.com/redalert/main.jsp

Can't say I'm a fan, then again I also cant say that thats what the finished product is going to look like.

Also, the Sage engine has been kicking about since the late 1990s in one form or another (IIRC the first Sage game, Emperor: Battle for Dune was released in 2001), it perhaps should be retired...

omfg this thing's gonna have Panserbjorn and Transformers. Awesome.

The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making WW III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies such as Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

The media they released is very disappointing. Just doesnt look right, they should have done a better job with the engine.

BTW, who here is going to be buying Kane's Revenge just for the C&C 3 beta?

I wanted to for a minute, but then I thought and realized I might as well just wait and save money for the real deal! :p

Beg pardon, Iced_Eagle? You mean the RA3 beta, and it's Kane's Wrath.

Still undecided. Hopefully will look shitloads better.

Armoured Bears, awesome.

I like amphibious destroyers. Why hasn't anybody thought of it yet?

Invasion of Iraq:

Gunner has a Sarcus R-66 rocket launcher, Hotwire a Gizmo, Deadeye a sniper rifle and Patch a grenade launcher. Which one?
You're probably right, but I could have sworn I saw someone using the fletchet gun right after Nod nuke the church.

It's bad scripting, I don't think you were ever meant to get an useless beacon, rather something like the laser rifle. Which is another example of bad scripting, as you get laser rifles in the chateau, whereas the Black Hand conversation mentions a prototype railgun being stored there.
Blame it on half-arsed map design. That's what I usually do whenever I see something like that.
Bad scripting and bad map design in the game is still part of the story and makes it suck.

Havoc is a generic action hero, Nod could've had it's moments, but sadly, is underperforming. A shame, really, a lot of flavour and lore sits unused in the .dat files. Cut conversations, EVA announcements, ****ing interviews with Charles Olivetti for instance.
I laughed once or twice at Havoc's cheesy lines but the rest of the cast is just awful.

I disagree, but purely on personal prefference. We only saw the Yellow Zones in TS, except for the pretty much Blue arctic areas.
Surely the Genesis Pit at the very least is a Red Zone? I know there were people living near it, but the inside of the Genesis Pit is the closest thing to an alien landscape we've seen in the C&C series.

Being a Nod supporter, I can say that TS actually shown that Tiberium is reshaping and pretty much spearheading the rebirth of the planet. It wasn't apocalyptic, it was beautiful and new.

TW is much more grim, shows how GDI meddling ultimately causes more death and mayhem than Nod. The Scrin invasion, degeneration of the new ecosystem by reshaped Tiberium all were caused by GDI.

Without it, the world would already be reshapen and all humans transformed into homo tiberius, the next generation of humans.
You're just arguing about which side you choose there :p

Walkers are clunky and damn complicated. Tanks are simpler and ultimately more efficent (finally TW introduced the obvious - why not just shoot the legs off?). The excuse that tanks can't navigate was the weak one.
Walkers are still cooler than tanks :p

And the grenades have rocket propulsion and simple guidance systems, you can't clear a building with a disc.
You can if it has as much explosives in it as the TW grenades.

I don't like the lack of subterranean tech too, though the global tunnel system still exists. Reinforcement bays anyone?
Didn't GDI use those too?

Back to the topic at hand:
I doubt those screenshots are real. If they are, I don't like the style. Needs moar cheesy retro-sci-fi units than futuristic cartoony-sci-fi. Looks good for a mod though. Mike's right on the amphibious destroyers though.

Edit: Those shots are real? I'm a tad disappointed.

Just make sure the enemy don't have needle-guns.

You're probably right, but I could have sworn I saw someone using the fletchet gun right after Nod nuke the church.

They didn't. I played Renegade recently.

Bad scripting and bad map design in the game is still part of the story and makes it suck.

You confuse gameplay with story.

I laughed once or twice at Havoc's cheesy lines but the rest of the cast is just awful.

Raveshaw had the potential to be awesome, if they used the orignal models instead of the midget with Nod-insignia underwear.

True enough. It was a melting pot with a not yet stable ecosystem and the first taste of how Earth would look after the transformation.

Walkers are still cooler than tanks :p

Yeah, but a tank doesn't measure eight meters, standing with a bigass billboard "HEY I'M HERE SHOOT MESHOOTMESHOOTMEOHPLEASE!" on it.

You can if it has as much explosives in it as the TW grenades.

No, you can't. The grenades home in on the infantrymen inside and blow them out with precision.

Didn't GDI use those too?

Yeah. The global tunnel system isn't Nod-exclusive.

DUDES. Work-in-progress ring any bells?

Just make sure the enemy don't have needle-guns.

They can use needle guns all they want. Ripping holes in the underskirt of a hover craft doesn't stop it.

You were probably joking, but seriously this could theoreticaly be done.

Make an extra large version of this:

+ This

And you have

<snip>

Bah, Ekranoplans are where its at when talking about fast, heavily armed amphibious craft.

Well, that and they're damn cool. :p

How do you think they'll treat subfactions? They have 3 options:
1: Red Alert / Red Alert 2 style where there is a large number of countries with minor differences.
2: Zero Hour / Kane's Wrath style with few subfactions with more differences.
3: Not bother with them at all.

I hope they go with no. 1.

Also, I'm glad to hear that Yuri country is gone, but I do hope that the USSR or Empire has some mind control units. Now for speculation of geography. I wonder with South Korea still be Allied or will it be Empire? I would guess that the main country behind the Empire is Japan, but it could be China too, though China could be Soviet too.

4. Emperor: Battle for Dune style subfactions.

Never played Battle for Dune. How do they work in that?

You choose from two of the five different subfactions, and they're all very unique with generally quite powerful units.
Each main faction can choose any two from the five.

Kind of like Zero-hour etc. except the sub-factions are shared basically.

So, as long as EA goes for it, and Petroglyph go for it... it'll all be good.

Woo another Red alert. I'll probably be getting this game even if its crap just because I love C&C. They do seem to be making a lot of games lately. Red alert 3, Tiberium wars 3: kanes wrath, Tiberium.
Not that i think thats bad or anything =D

That's because they know people like you will buy them regardless how much effort they put into them.

Heh, and I get deemed a Fallout-fascist and NMAtard by Kyorisu for such posts.

...but you are.

I figure roughly 80% of your posts that I see are either defending Fallout or attacking games for not being Fallout.

Of course, I only really run into you here, in the Games Section.

Until Mikael actually leaves the board because some of us like what Bethesda is doing with Fallout 3, he's not an actual fascist.

More of a Fallout Communist.

I don't attack games for not being Fallout. I state they are nowhere near it's quality, and it's only when we're discussing arpegees.

That said, I think a better comparison would be a Fallout Spartan (300). :)

QFT, besides RA3 doesn't look anything like psychonauts, so it's going to suck.

/bows.

Good enough for me.

And why you crack me up. I don't hate Fallout I just don't believe it's as good as you'd like everyone to think.

Psychonauts had an awesome art style, but there's no way it would work for Soviet/Allied/Asian(???) warfare.

Except my opinion is shared by a vast majority, including hardcore gamers and devs.
