CoD5 doing a U-Turn back to WW2

I have no problem with them moving back to WW2, as long as they take anotehr direction with it. Whil COD3 kinda sucked ass, it still tried to put a spin on things by setting it near the end of the war, and COD2 with the russian campaign. The most annoying thing about the series is that it continues to glorify the American forces. The US campaign for COD 3 was incredibly well, with fun levels and a decent storyline/acting. Both the Polish and Canadian forces seemed to be an afterthought, with very little attention paid.

I'm going to assume it's not going to be on PC, then.

I had the same assumption, therefore I'll just pretend it doesn't exist.

Heh, they probably has a bunch of old rehashed textures, models, and sound effects laying around that they were planning on using anyway.

Alternate reality, let the axis win for once in an FPS wargame dammit. That would be epic.

I agree. I want to see a WW2 game where you play as an axis soldier, and it would be the contrary to the final events of World War II. Which means, what would the world be like if D-day (Omaha, Utah, Gold, and Juno invasions) was a total bust and the Axis won? It would make way for an interesting story.

Alas, I guess they are afraid about being "controversal" D:

They're still letting the Axis win, at least in the European Theater.

Bah you still know what I mean. The ability to run around as a German in the early days of the war before shit hit the fan maybe I don't know. Playing as the good guys just gets a tad boring in these war games I tell ya.

They should make a concentration camp simulator.

I know exactly what you mean, I was just being a semantic dick :p

I agree with you wholeheartedly anyway. I want to go through a WW2 game entirely within the perspective of the Axis.

I was hinting towards the Italian forces, because I've never seen them in a WW2 game.

You should be able to play as Hitler.

Between Hitler and myself, I think the people would like him better as a leader.

Of course he would just lead..... HIS TROOPS INTO BATTLE!!:sniper:

POOP POWER!!

Hitler fought in WW1, and he did quite well. He had nazi superpowers though, so that's kind of like cheating.

How is this good news at all?

Another sequel, so soon? Christ, don't let CoD4 prosper or anything.
Don't make any expansions or anything. :|

How often do multiplatform games get expansions?

Rarely!

CoD4 needs nothing added to it apart from maps, so they released a map pack.

Its easily one of the greatest SP and MP experiences in any FPS game, its just chaotically...beautiful.

And I dont see what was really wrong with CoD3, im sure not having Infinity Ward doing it will be fine. Surprised theyve gone to WW2 again though.

However, I guess, CoD will always be a WW2 game. They branched out and took a 'leap of faith' (guess) when they made it present day(ish), and luckily it worked.

[Edit] Theyre sticking with modern warfare...ah well, so much for what I said *cry*

Oh yeah... forgot it came out on consoles too.

Damn it, hooray for splintering the CoD4 community! :|

CoD-Win
CoD2-Win
CoD3-phail
CoD4-Major Win
CoD5-Major fail

hmmm, there is a pattern here.

somewhere.

I don't get the hatred against Treyarch. I mean, all they did was Call of Duty 3, which by all accounts was a better game than Call of Duty 2. Its aesthetics and whatnot are pretty much identical as well.

Can someone clear up who is developing Call of Duty 5? I've heard mixed reports... some articles say Treyarch is making it, but those seem to be pretty old sources, and I'm almost certain I've read that Infinity Ward is on it themselves.
They did ps2/xbox spinoffs Big Red One and Finest Hour etc. :|

I heard that you travel backwards in time from the end of CoD4, but a horrible accident leads to you turning into a bar of Soap. You observe WWII from bathroom in Dusseldorf.

Features:

- Real-time lathering

- Unparalleled scent customisation

- The most realistic soap bar physics ever seen in a computer game

Why not WW1?

Now that I think of it, that would be really awesome.

Imagine a charge across no-mans land, with almost no cover, with machine guns firing from the left and right, and artillery blasting all around the player.

That would be pretty epic.

How would that be any different than any other CoD game. WWI would consist of contracting diseases due to malnutrition, staying in a trench for weeks on end, and then having to reload fifty times because you died the first 49 during a charge.

Eh, I didnt like the idea of going back to WWII, but I dont want to go back to Modern Warfare either, just because that genre is used way too much as well.

The Somalian Conflict
The Cold War
I.R.A. v Britain
Spanish-American War
WWI

Wars that many games are not made about, and personally, the I.R.A. thing would be pretty awesome. Team up with your Irish brethren and ambush S.A.S. units in Ireland

The game would like be... one level. :p That, or just lots and lots of missions that are exactly the same, which I suppose is the usual COD gameplay mechanic, COD4 just took it a few steps forward and made it more exciting/cinematic.

I had no problems with COD3, either. I found the MP leagues ahead of COD1 and 2 because of the classes and more detailed/bigger maps. It was Battlefield 2 lite, sort've, but nevertheless real good fun.
