Has Valve slipped in under the radar here and provided a good mode for Nvidia cards after all?
Everything ever mentioned about HL2 engine revolved around DirectX9 (Direct3D). Now the beta is stolen and we discover that in fact the only working mode on it is the OpenGL mode?!?!?!?!
I wish we could get Valve to answer some questions about this. It's possible that this beta is an OpenGL beta - perhaps Valve was working on making ammends with Nvidia FX owners?
But if it turns out this beta was never meant to see the light of day, then how does Valve expalin it? Was it just something they were tossing around? Or was this something that was cancelled when they decided to go with the ATI endorsement?
Valve is seriously losing respect in my book. But before I cast the first stone, it would be nice to get some straight answers from them for once. And maybe they'll talk with Vivendi first and agree on a statement together for once?
