Why shouldn't you mock and criticize? The maturity of a man is measured in the drama he produces, a mature person will generate zero (0) drama resource points, making the Troll-4Chan subfaction unable to field anything but the basest baits and the general Mockery/Ridicule side weaker, while a dramawhore will be generating extreme amounts, sustaining the operations of a mocking side for quite a lot of time, making up for the mature people they encounter.

If only it were as simple as not liking something thats just different. There's more to it than that. Now granted, not all of them are deserving of ridicule, but speaking from years of experience on the matters of "internets," a lot of them are.

I'm not concerned with you're experiences on the "internets"; this is hardly the way to build yourself an intellectual resume and it doesn't make you a certified judge in what culture deserves more disrespect then the other. I can't imagine how you felt when someone decided it was your turn to be harassed, but maybe you can learn to respect that situation and give it where it's due. That aside, I believe these are people (furs) who have already earned the right to respect, because they deal with criticisms, all the time.

But let's be direct; you're version of ridicule isn't something that can deliver an intellectual or free minded criticism of this social group, because in comparison you don't come from one that's actually any better. It's just another platform for you're own adversity to difference, which is my opinion. Maybe thats because nobody is actually doing what CptStern did.

On the other hand, it's certainly true that furries often tend to take a kind of nationalist pride in their sexual kinks, construct an identity for themselves that is based on that orientation. It's not the desire to be different but the desire to be in company which unites furries, and unites them to the absurd extent that they form 'furs for christ' groups or whatever.

The desire to be different and to be in the company of like-minded individuals is anyone's right. How is this absurd?
