Console sales comparison

Didn't really understand a word of that m8 :) - but think that we agree, at least in some small way.

Off topic, does anyone have Paper Mario 2 for GC? That looks awesome, that would bring me back to the days of the super nes.
Is it worth buying? Is it good? Im excited to have that game if I buy a GC tomorrow

Im old school, I still love 2D games.

I didnt say every game for nintendo was for kiddies. I loved RE4, and I want to get metroid. Only thing that puts me off to zelda is the kiddie voice, and cartoony graphics.

Im talking about games like super money ball, mario sunshine, mario party, etc.
The new zelda in progress looks to be one of the best games ever made. It's definately more dark and has realistic graphics. I can't wait to play it, and I have passed on every Zelda game since SNES.

Im not missing anything, while they were cool in a way, I just didn't enjoy the zelda games you mentioned.

And the new zelda coming out has alot more realistic graphics than wind waker. That was my point

I think Smash brothers melee is the biggest smoking pile of childrens crap ever. I can't see how you would call that "saving the day" for nintendo. It was the single most biggest turn off for the game cube to me. all the 10 year olds at wal mart crowding around, it wasn't even really a game, more like "hmm lets put all our mascot characters into one game.. that will sell"

I think the nintendo game cube looks the best out of all the systems

I hate people who are biased to one system..those people need to try the other systems before they make their decision...I have all 3 so I'm happy.

Ps2 > GC > dogshit > Xbox

There.

;)

(yes i have all 3)

Yah, I have had all three, and they are all good in their own way

lol nooo not my street fighter!!

Maybe Smash bros. melee did "save the day" for nintendo.
I have heard so many people say that Smash brothers is great..

But to me, it truely was the biggest turn off for me. The biggest reason I didn't want a game cube.

I want games like the new zelda.

I find Gamecube games are more creative and unrealistic. Xbox and PS2 titles tend to be more realistic and therefore they have less creativity with their concepts.

Where Gamecube titles appear more zany and out-of-this-world, the competition appears to be providing games with a more accurate representation of real life.

Back on topic. While it seems xbox and gc have close sales figures, there is a big diffrence. GC gets most of its sales from japan, and xbox gets most of its sales from america. Going by sales, ratings, reviews, there is a big diffrence in gaming taste in these 2 countries.

Warbie, what is the point of posting sales figures you ask.

Just that most Americans dont care for most of GC game selection, and japenese dont really care for the xbox game selection. For the most part game selection sells consoles, people buy a console so they can play the games they like. Ex. The main reason I bought the GC was because of RE4.

Facts

Japan hardware sales weekly
February 21 - 27, 2005
PlayStation 2 - 44,378
PSP - 41,867
Nintendo DS - 26,761
Game Boy Advance SP - 11,124
GameCube - 3,351
Game Boy Advance - 341
Xbox - 245

USA console hardware sales monthly
January 2005
Playstation 2: 490,002
Xbox: 242,375
Gamecube: 112,327

You can also see this same thing in diffrence of top game sales in each country. The only common thing seems to be, both countries enjoy the same handhelds, and both have have a majority that would rather own the ps2 then the other 2 consoles. But for diffrent reasons.

Thats interesting Smack500.

There is quite a contrast between system sales!

You may want to try to include source links or just post a link to your source to confirm

I'd have to point out right here that it's Japan that actually has the most diverse game-playing population, from kids all the way up to adults of both sexes. Whereas in the US its starting to change, the majority of sales are still all made to kids, especially males.
If we're all just buying the games we like to play, then it would probably stand to reason that the XBox is the one that appeals to the less mature audience.
