Ok, lets think logically here, the Borielis mysteriously disappeared, meaning the Portal gun is not on bored, something that small could not teleport an entire dock away, the device, watever it is has got to be big and uncontrollable, otherwise how would it end up there. Or, someone sabotaged the 'device' to send it to an inhospitable area. Maybe someone we know of teleported it there, someone from black mesa...

My bet would be on Eli or Magnusson as Kleiner seems to reluctant to use it to waste it in the first place. Eli wishes for it to be destroyed so he attempted to teleport it away so no one could get near it and find it. Magnusson however stays strangley quite during the conversation about the ship, but Eli's face is worried in the explanation by Kleiner, either because of Mossman or because his plan has failed.

But of course, Chell could have teleported the technology there as an act of revenge against GLaDOS. Or, GLaDOS, being insane teleported the technology away as part of an 'experiment'. GLaDOS could also have done it to prevent Chell from gathering 'that kind of power'. Or Gman may have something to do with the whole thing, maybe he placed it there as part of a plan to lure Gordon and Alyx into the area, so he can spring a trap.

It all adds up...But to what...

No, it's just the fake arctic room used for the video sequence.

It's in the same map as the one you see the transmission.

In other words, it's not unfinished since it's only used for the monitor and anyone can easily access that room with noclip.

I just figured this out but in Judith's message she says something about a project, this could be refering to the inside the borealis and about the damage of it and that the combine want it badly.

It is the ep2 trailer, but if you click the video, nad get on to the youtube site, this interesting stuff is written on the description of the video.

Rumour has it Valve have leaked the rest of the story...

*BEWARE* Do not read if you feel it may spoil the rest of the game...However this info is not certain and sounds more fan based:

"Apparently, it was leaked that Alex actually does die after the train crash. And the vortigaunts take her away to see what they can do. You play through the rest of ep2 without her. Then, about halfway through ep3, she is revived and rejoins you in the final battle.

ALSO: The "project" that Mossman is working on is a device that will destroy all of the combine forces when it is put into place (made by the knowledge she gathered while working with Breen), but supposedly it needs to be set up in the combine world! Gordon Freeman will have to enter into the combine universe in ep3 and plant the device there that will finally destroy the combine forces once and for all."

A little bit far-fetched to be honest but who knows...This is as stupid as the rumour that Gman is Gordons father or when they said Half-Life 2 was leaked by Doug Lombardi.

Sounds like a fairly propable speculation of what could be on the Borealis, and it also sets you up for something that the games have been hinting at which is a trip to the Combine world, but I hope Valve come up with something better.

Seeing how he was wrong about Alyx dying and being revived in ep3, I doubt this is even close to being right

As much as I hope that Valve don't use this plot-device, it seemingly is the only reasonable thing that would settle a lot of things that the Resistance has been working towards. Other than close the Portals through which the Combine invade the earth, and kill the remaining forces stationed on earth, the only other method to gain long-term protection against the Combine forces is to destroy their world, not to mention this is a theory that would necessitate Gordon to pay a visit to the Combine world, which has been a long time in coming.

Vass, I do realize that his theory about Alyx's revival wasn't exactly spot on, but it was dangerously close in determining the overall scheme of events, namely her dying briefly, the Vortiguants reviving her, and her teaming up with you later. It is also worth mentioning that the video was realeased a year before ep2, during which time Valve would have only accidently "leaked" a brief and vague overview of what was going to take place in the future, and it is completely possible that they changed their minds, and decided to revive her in Ep2.

With all that said though, I still hope Valve come up with something a bit more complex and interesting as to what they could place on the Borealis, and how we are going to overcome the Combine forces.

... I think this bit can be solved with one short statement.

People on the internet think they can be, or do anything without the guilt, so that was probably just some guy trying to say he got direct info from valve, but if you notice, he even spelled Alyx's name wrong, so I'm guessing that whoever thought that load up was new to the scene of half-Life if they didn't know how to spell her name. That's all.

I hope EP3 is the logest episode in the sereis like HL2 long. And I hope nothing is on the Borealis exept something that will point them to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. I don't want to see GLaDOS but I do want to see Chell. Nore do I want to see the portal gun. Mabye one of the chapters will involve Gordon & Alyx sparking a rebelion in a Combine City That has never heard of Gordon. Oh and I want to fight and Advisor...Advisor's pwn.
