Cool Commercial

Yeah...but even if they use references and mo-cap and all that stuff I still think its considered CG right? I mean, Gollum IS considered to be CG...I think...

Uhh, yeah.

You're not actually seeing the guy, you see a CG robot, so its CG

Cool comercial too.

Only some of the robot is CG though, most of the outer skin and the head is real, so the robot is not a pure CG creation.

If we need to call it something it would probably be "CG-enhanced".

If you look at the shot of the "robot" running on the treadmill, it's clearly wearing white-painted lace-up running shoes.

I'm pretty sure that the FX guys have the robot wearing shoes on purpose, and didn't forget to "paint them out" or something. Thus, the fact that the robot is wearing shoes doesn't really prove its a human on a treadmill. Although I'm sure you're right, they probably used a person running as a reference.

This CG is possibly down with the 'blue-screen'/'green-screen' technique.
But instead of a wall, they have a crappy plastic remote control exo-skeleton machine without the features of the machine we saw and had green/blue fabric over it and then some body added the details in later.
This is how the CG is done in the new Star Wars movies by ILM.

that killing machine of savagry is just like me in day of defeat :)

one thing that i wonder about, is where they get the music for those types of commercials. i could use music like that for some flashes.

One thing I wonder about is, what the hell is with those ears? I mean, are we going to trust our safety Galil-wielding rabbits? wtf is that?

remember the rabbit in the holy grail. those things are beasts. give them galil's and they are unstoppable.

Darkstar, you are absolutely right. It is really good CG. Who cares if it was motion captured? All the better! Besides, the robot itself is still CG, and it's damn good CG. It's inspired me to start again with modeling with Lightwave

p.s. Good CG? Check this out: Praying Mantis. Wow !

I was thinking that those serve as some sort of high-tech anteanna. The robot would have to tap into satellite communincation and GPS information, and you probably don't want a huge stellite dish sticking out the top of its head.
