Counter-Strike: Source Binks

Ok that bink was boring.. who cares if the water makes a splash effect, that doesnt make it a good game

They should take the german PC Games video, edit out the interviews and german dubbing and turn it into a bink.....or make some brand new binks, its all good.

Pretty much everyone knows what kind of game it's going to be. It's CS. There's no gameplay changes, aside from any slight differences the new engine has made.

Are you expecting something revolutionary?

hoping for.. but not expecting. hopefully some upcoming hl2 or doom3 mods will be exciting and new

Of course they will. I don't know why you thought that CS:Source would be anything other than Counterstrike though.

Unimpressed. The textures are so bland, both on the models and the environments. If it didn't come free with HL2 I definitely would not be buying it.

Wayne................................

Impressive, most impressive. Looking forward to playing the BETA in 8 days :D

Looking forward to playing Doom3 and CS:S beta on my new PC within 2 weeks :)

Same here. Doesn't look nearly as good as HL2 singleplayer.

Who said it should look good? CS has never been a game with nice gfx.. Most people run 1.6 with low resolution and highfpsmodels, just to get skills. The main factor that's playing CS is because they want to make headshots, not blazing over the nice graphics :p

Don't want so much from CS:S, since it's just upgraded stuff ;D

They had no-where near finished the map or the models at that point :|

The deagle for instance is barely even skinned, and there are precious little props in the environment.

It's wasn't even close to public beta when these binks were recorded, get a grip and realise games don't go from concept to finished perfection in one step...

Well I just watched it. Overall is nice, fast-paced action exactly as the original CS is, and now even more fun, nice done guys.

Assuming video is captured with all settings maxed, I hoped bumpmapped textures and normal mapped characters like the last HL2 screenshots, if the engine is capable why not to use it? If your graphics card don't handle it well just turn it off, like high quality water. All the sound ans physics stuff is superb. I assume that the weapon models are being revamped, because the video was done for E3 2004 in may and the ak47, DE and sniper are ugly textured, but now we can see the usp and mp5 revamped in the new screenshots which are superb. I can tell about character models quality because they are not close to the player camera but seems to be nice done and these and barrels casts shadows nicely, just like max payne 2.

I noticed something strange in the bridge ambush. Pause (with spacebar) in the first frame when the last terrorist is shoted from the bridge, see the attachment.

Probably a demo recording issue, it's not the same as playing the real game :)

Oh sweet, I just watched it again paying really close attention and slowing it down.

There seems to be cool bump mapping effects on the floor with glistening wet areas, it looks so cool...

And you got to love the refraction effects as you walk through the water...

I hope they give us a map with water on to test.. I will just sit there gazing at it while I am getting mown down...

Press space-bar very fast repeatedly, but I am sure there is a better way ^^

The textures on the walls were pretty drab and well..."primitive" for a next gen engine like source. I really hope they update the textures soon and make nice and bumpy bricks that are normal-mapped.

My feelings exactly, although one cannot really be sure until they play the game themselves.

I'll be sure to tell you all about it after the beta starts :p

And I don't agree about the textures, if you look carefully there is tonnes of detail but the video doesn't capture it very well...

And also it does look bump-mapped to me...

And besides as I mentioned earlier the map is clearly about half-way through development..

Some people even seem to think the one-tone deagle is the final version

I'm aware that valve said they'll be updating textures, but since valve employees read these kind of threads - it's better that they'll know what exactly we want.

And unfortunately, there isn't any bump-mapping on the walls, they are evidently flat textures, if you look carefully. :( Although that rock seems to be bump mapped, near the spot where the bomb is planted.

- but I'm sure valve is continously updating, because I know they'll make me eat crow once we see the final polished product. :p

All this Source talks getting me all excited. :) Why is everyone assuming the beta is coming out on the 28? Thats when the preloading starts...it could be a month after that for all we know. (god I hope not)

I think they want to believe so badly that is the day that rumor has become fact..I'm tellin you they'll preload the day Doom 3 is released just to piss on their parade and get people thinking about CS instead of Doom 3

That's exactly what I was thinking. Release the beta the day Doom 3 comes out to compete with them, smart idea.
