Post you over-analising (sp?) of the Matrix films. My brother thinks that the marovingeon (sp?) is the original 'one'. The more I think about this the more crorrect it seems. His name ends in eon which can be re-arranged into one just like neo's. he has surrvived every version of the Matrix "I have survived yourr predocesors and i will survive you" but he isn't an exiled programme. While chasing the key-maker the agents call him the 'last exile' but the marovingeon is still alive. And he defenatly doesn't seem to be part of the Matrix that the machiens control so what is he?
:cat: :cat: , deja-vo!

Merovingian.

So it's not an anagram of "one"

oh well, but what the hell is he?!

He's a program in exile who likes to act like a stereotypical frenchman, with a lot of power in various underground circuits.

I think the Wachaowskis should be shot, or at least forbidden from ever making movies ever again.

Well now they're making V for Vendetta into a movie - let's hope it doesn't contain too many symbols, sex scenes/dance scenes

Frank , say its not true!!
Id hate to see hollywood screw up such a great story.
V for Vedetta is a damn classic, and to even think about the Wachaowskis messing with it.........horror.

He can't be an exile because the agents refered to the key-maker as the last exile.

Bleh? That little girl was the last exile, because she was the last one program to escape into the matrix. Merovingian has been around since the first Matrix, how could he be the last exile? He may very well be the first.

They say the script written by them is basically the comic, BUT they give the minor characters more screen time than the more important ones, characters that don't really contribute to the story much.

And there's lot of symbolism (to poster hoping there are no symbols). What Alan Moore comic didn't have some kind of symbolism?

She didn't go into exile until the next film.

Well, they would say that wouldnt they(arrogant tossers).
I just cant see the story surviving being shifted to an american setting and being sanitised to fit in with mainstream audiences.

Theres just so much in V that just cant be filmed honestly at the present time.
Much of the story is ...well...terrorism frankly. And I cant see that going down well with stateside audiences.

Uh, no. It still takes place in London, England. Most of the actors are British. **** whatever anyone else says, V for Vendetta is a mature work about rebellion, love, and the very thing that drives humanity, what makes us tick, and why we are who we are. It isn't just "terrorism". Its more than that. V isn't even a character, he's an idea. His existence is the symbol of an idea most people forgot in the comic and with him, they remember again. Will stateside audiences like it? Well I don't know. Comic geeks like myself will love it (though if this is anything like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, we'll probably forget it even exists). I trust the Wachowski's. They are good writers regardless of what anyone thinks.

Sorry for going off topic ;).
