Creatures cut from from HL2

Does anyone remember that cool concept art of a combine with a trenchcoat? That was cool looking, and it should've been some kind of variation of a combine soldier.

I'm kinda glad they didn't have human assassins in HL2, the ones in HL1 annoyed me and freaked me out when they just come around a corner, and it's always creepy to hear them running around...
Lol, they were the only things that didnt actually scare me

The combine in the trench coat look really cool. I would have loved to see his lovly coat flapping around, oh and the Bump mapping would look so cool on his coat, knowing valve.

I would have been cool to have a really bad storm due to the combine draining resources (and exchanging the air, which was cut) and seeing those patrolling the streets. Would have looked so sweet.

The combine in a trench coat does look very "nazi". It looks like someone out of WW2 in a concentration camp or something.

I just hear that in one interview whit doug lombardi he mentioned few things cutted and he say something like "also was removed a space creature that was captured by the combine" or something like that

Yea I heard something about this too. I think it was in one of these posts. Supposedly something nasty the combine caught and couldn't destroy/assimilate/whatever, so they use it against you. Sounded cool, coulda been a cool final fight. I could picture having to destory some sort of shield generator that keeps it captive, and it escapes and unleashes havoc on the cidatel. It wasn't mentioned in raise the bar, as far as I know, just some interview floating around. In my opinion, there was too much they cut out that could have spiced up the game a lot more, and made it just that much better... :frown:

fear not, all is not lost my children. I am making a map, and I have seen many of the cut out characters in the sdk files. You can still fight them, just wait till I finnish :).

Oh cool!!! I cant wait for you to finish that map!! im obsessed to kill a prowler!!! :sniper:

A map won't do, you'll have to make a mod with all the code included and new models/sounds made :/

I hear that another creature that wasnt used was a creature of the space captured by the combine can someone explain about it?
There was a thing called a Combine Alien Soldier indeed. It looked a bit like a Combine Soldier with the head of a Combine advisor, and a fat, grublike end instead of legs. It moved around like a snake. Valve scrapped it because "they didn't want any relation to human-sized alien foes".

Why are people excited about the prowlers? They are just leapers with combine armor on. Probably with that annoying crying noises also.

Enemies in the leak:

Mortar synth
Hydra
Cremator
Prowler (just a screen of it i think)
Gonarch pod
Combine guard
Sanbarnacle
Houndeye
Bullsquid
Combine Elite

Thats if my memory serves me correctly...but i wont indulge in details, as this qualifies as leak talk.

The mortarsynth was in the final game, just don't get to fight it.

Also there was a zombified Prowler too, which leads me to believe headcrabs were going to infect other specied as well, like vorts. Another thing called the birther, the pic was just an antlion without a texture, so I think it was going to be a species of antion. That's all I can remember now......

Gonarch pods sound very interesting.

I thought the "flying headcrabs" was a reference to the way Poison Zombies throw poison headcrabs at you.
Did anyone else get this impression?

Why is combine elite on your list? The first combine elite was edited into a combine overwatcher elites with white suits on.

Where Prowlers an early name given to the Cremators. Although ultimately cut, their soul lived on in the Fast Zomies

I find that statement funny, HELLLOOO Fast Zombies give us our soul back so we can fight these prowlers.

Intresting, impression it could be so, but then it can be stretched to the fast zombies how they jump from like another roof and such. Throwing/Jumping from tall place, or nice explosions of head crabs when they get to close to a exploding barrel...we may never know.

I am refering to a different combine elite, one whom wore a camo suit.

That's what I'm TALKING about. It was never left out, it was chagned into the one you see in game. And if you use SDK, you will see the original combine elite model.

No I think he's talking about the Combine Guard, wore a big mech suit and carried a huge cannon thing, I read somewhere that it was originally how you have to kill the striders or something.

The code for his gun (Combine Guard Gun) is still in the game. From the looks of it, it'd also affect the terrain, on the displacement surfaces. Still needs polishing, though.

I am not talking about the Combine guard and i am not talkign about the combine elite model in the GCF Files, this is a different combine elite, its in raising the bar and the model was in the leak, it wore a camo suit, that changes colour...

That combine elite is in the GCF file?
Must check that out...

i think the head of a creature cut from the game is in kleiner's lab in the water tank

It's in Eli's lab. It's been said earlier in this thread.

Ah alright I know what youre talking about now, it had a multicolored camo uniform on, with the buggy lokoing orange goggles.

Sort of, the model wasnt finished, but the concept had it wearing a green camo suit and the orange goggles...looked cool, though not very combine really.

Can you post some screenshots of that combine with the camo? I can't seen to find it.

Someone would have to scan Raising the Bar for that, right? It's copyrighted though. :/

No he said theres a model of it in the GCF folder. If it's in the GCF folder then i guess its ok to take screenshots of it as anyone could get to it.

I've had a look through the GFC folder. I can't find a model of it.

Neither could i, but someone found one in there (so he/she says)

Eli's Lab, that's supposed to be a cremator's head.

"give weapon_cguard"?

It's not included in the compile, you'd need to graft it into a mod, and sort out a few bugs that'd stop it compiling.

If I get the time, I'll see if I can make it appear, and take some shots of it firing. Although it doesn't have a model, so it won't look that good.
