Cremator?

When game engines can accurately simulate flowing materials like clothes, perhaps we'll see the Cremator. My guess is that - baring a redesign (i.e. losing the coat), we will not see the Cremator in Aftermath.
Doesn't have to PROPERLY simulate it. Splinter Cell had cloth that swayed in the breeze and covered you as you went through them (if you see what I mean). Even Vice City gave the impression of rippling clothes in the wind on bikes - that's all you really need to do is give the impression.
I don't really like the bulbous sack that its legs poke out of - a properly tight trench-coat style outfit (no feet showing?) would look a lot better.
My opinion is law.

Actually, Vampire : The Masquerades : Bloodlines (what a long name :dozey:) which uses the Source engine have cloth-simulation. (although it's a little buggy at times)

Dead or Alive 3 has dood cloth simulation. No stupid perv crap now.

i would have thought the cremators would have a very shambling appearence, as if it is not entirely well built. this could be reflected in its movement, like it would kill for a zimmerframe. Its not as if the combine are going to put many funds into these disposable cleaners.

Damn, that's exactly what I was going to say.

ugh i hope they dont use that creature , its model looks horrible and i also ask myself: why would the combine need such a bastard? dont they have any vortigaunts to do that crap ?

The cremator is in the HL universe due to the head in BME. but maybe the real cremator isn't a pokémon.

The model looks terrible but the idea and concepts look terrific. If they include it it'll probably be fixed.

well , i hope so . right , i dont want any pokemon in hl2.

Imagine that.

'Go, PIKACHU!'

-gunfire-

'PIKACHU?'

I just noticed something in RtB... the things the kids are making in the Child Factories (a section cut from the game for all of you not in the know) are Cremator helmets. This leads me to believe that they are infact Stalkers with costumes on. Which also leads me to believe they will be included as a Stalker variation in Aftermath.

i think the cremator would be an interesting enemy to fight.

The way i see it, it would be the kind of creature that you would stumble across rather than actively fight.

Like lets say you are going through some sewer areas and some cremators are going around melting down corpses, they notice you and they attack.

they probably wouldn't be like regular combine troops that are always after you, more like dumb creatures that fight you because you are are interfereing with their task

what!?

Dude. Ever been sprayed by a waterhose? Do you know how unpleasant that is? Multiply that by 20 considering the water is actually white hot plasma

they are effectively flamethrower troops, every game needs flamethrower troops

they got my vote!!

for what its worth anyway..

fire is good in video games..

cremator=fire=:D

Maybe the Cremators would end up not even as enemies...but just some poor suckers that you can shoot and steal their weapons. I mean they're just supposed to be janitors and pest control!

Well all we've seen is a concept/model of it, that is no way to decide whether it will be fun or not, really :)

For a good idea of how the weapon will act, watch Starship Troopers and look at the huge armoured bugs magical saliva stuff. I can picture it being like that. What do people think about stealing the weapon? Judging by the concepts it actually looks like a holding onto weapon rather than a biological weapon. It would be freakin sweet.

Yea, pokemon belong in HL1. *coughsnarks*

Cremators will be awesome, but for the love of almighty jebus, do not use the beta model valve!
Put that guy in a fine black trenchcoat!

Jeez, can't you people see what a good enemy this would be? He's got a hose that dissolves organic matter (ie human flesh). You'd have to fight your way down a street full of them, dodging sprays of the hoses. I think it would be awesome.

EDIT: Jebus, imagine if you could get your hands on one of those hoses! I mean, lighting people on fire in HL2 was fun but it can't compare to hosing someone down with sprays of acid.

I dont think they would add them in as weapons for you to have. that would be too hard to control the game, and to have a good storyline they need to control it.

It would be cool as an enemy though.

And just to add extra awesome to this ressurected thread, the hose doesn't dissolve matter, but ignites it. The code's still in the SDK for the weapon, and it's mighty fun tyo use, even though it only works when you shoot at the ground rather than directly at the enemy.

Does that mean you could mod it into a flamer for ZM?

Could do, but it works in an odd way. It fires a green beam which, after a few seconds of exposure, ignites an NPC. I'd need to work on the beam to turn it into flame sprites, but yeah, it's feasible.
