Crysis Screenshots

Flyingdebris, the plot has already been revealed, a spaceship crashes into Korea, and this triggers a war between NK(And China iirc) and SK(And the US), when suddenly the aliens also enter the plot through the spaceship.
Atleast that's how I recall it.:)

And I'm pretty sure people are gonna go "omg teh lamest plot ev4r! LoLzZ?!"

They blatantly stole the 'aliens prefer cold weather' and 'aliens turn island into ice-land' from Hostile Waters, but it'd be cooler if they'd gone the whole stealy hog and made it terraforming instead of an 'ice cannon'.

Except shooting enemies with the terraformer would be pretty lame.
*shoots confused monsies with co2exhaust and subsequently passes on due to acute leadpoisoning* :x

Nah, give me an icecannon any day of teh week.
*blasts aliens and commies w/-272 degrees celsius and then commences to run around and kick them all in the nuts* :monkee:

Looks rendered.
All computer graphics are rendered. You mean pre-rendered? Is that a bad thing? Considering it is not pre-rendered, the fact that it looks pre-rendered should be a compliment, yet I don't sense your comment as a compliment. [EDIT] I just read some of the earlier posts, and I assume you mean rendered/not actual screenshots. I get it.

From E3, I've seen gameplay footage from this ship and it is definately real-time. You saw some of the Crysis movies too didn't you? I don't know if these are screenshots from in-game or not, but the game will look like that. You haven't seen anything yet, you should see the shadows. I guess that [the gameplay movie] happens after the ship comes under attack from that gigantic alien or something. Remember you have to pull that I-beam off of a ship-mate?

I like the textures and level design. They really must have checked out some ships to see the layout. The foam covered ducts and pipes and such. It all looks pretty realistic.

100% ingame people played that at e3.

But you have seen the tech demo, haven't you? Yeah, the engine is still pretty damn impressive. Also, read the information on the preview.
I like the avatar.

actually let me rephrase my previous post.

when i say laughable plot, i don't mean that the whole island of doctor moreau story that farcry had going was bad. Actually i originally had no problems with this.

What i did have problems with was how they messed it up starting with blowing up a nuke underground and surviving the resulting fireball. Having to fight through a bunch of mutants in a volcano just to shoot a certain guy once to trigger a cutscene. Surviving a fall from a helicopter. Having crappy dialogue with extra cheese between the main badguy and you. That the main badguy (and old scientist) makes himself into a mutant wielding a g36 for some reason. And other such stupid things.

So having aliens landing doesn't bother me much, I just don't want the game's potentially good story marred by shitty story telling.

6.-Tell me about gameplay... is it going to be linear or not?
It's NOT going to be linear. It's going to give you the freedom of choice, and every decision you make might change the outcome of the game. Expect something along the lines of FarCry (if you never played it, then go play it ffs)

I seriously doubt EVERY decision is going to result in changing the outcome, let alone the majority. I'd say you probably get a choice at the end of the game as to which faction you might wanna help, ala Deus Ex, but that'll be it.

It's not the best shot but how does it look like ass?. Ok I agree the textures arn't that built into or detailed, but the lighting quality is fantastic and is used to great effect to expose alot of geometry detail.. I mean someone mistook it for pre rendered stuff for god sakes.

Well Half-life was nonlinear in that sense :p Join the Gman or die.

EDIT:
Samon, don't judge the book by it's cover. :p
On another note, am I the only one who finds the island too colourful? (same with Farcry)

Yeah with the other shots thats a good thing, but with this shot inparticular its a bad thing. It looks like someone took a bunch of standard props in any 3d program and rendered it with the quickest and easiest lighting scheme and that combined with the low quality textures makes it look like ass. Aesthetically anyway. But thats probably me just being pickey about this stuff because i've done too much 3d renders in my time.

Steering away from all the crap, in gaming terms that shot looks about 2 times worse than F.E.A.R. And the only thing that made F.E.A.R really look any good at all was the lighting. And the occasional bullet hole.

Lighting can make or break any game.

Looks OK I guess, but i'm sticking to my ZX spectrum, it's just better.

I had this one [TS-1000]: http://oldcomputers.net/ts1000.html

Then I got this one [TS-2068]: http://www.zianet.com/kromeke/pastcomp/flea/ts2068.htm
American version of the very popular British Spectrum Computer
Has an additional 8K extension ROM, Cartridge port
Two joystick ports and AY-3-8912 Sound Chip.
This is the first Timex computer that was NOT a clone of a Sinclair product. It is based on the Sinclair 48K Spectrum, but with major changes - a cartridge port, different memory configuration, and a different sound ship. Unfortunately, this means it is no longer 100% software-compatible with the Spectrum computer which it was built upon.

The TS-2068 was Timex's first color system. It utilizes a cassette recorder for data storage, and has tiny ROM cartridges with pre-programmed applications.

Unfortunately, they fixed a couple silly bugs in the ROM and upgraded it just a little bit, and in the process they made nearly all of the British software (where the system was actually successful) incompatible, so I had to make my own games. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. :D

Holy crap. 4 GB RAM for max? Yikes, I thought I was doing pretty well to have 1GB. From the min requirements, they would make it seem like I can actually run this, but they didn't list video card requirements.

4GB of RAM is a LOT. Is there a new type of ram coming out anytime soon?

Last year 1GB was asking much. 4 ****ing GB's is just ****ing terrible.
