The good folks over at CSNation have just posted a response they have received from Jess Cliffe, Valve product manager and co-creator of Counter-Strike, regarding the Counter-Strike: Source BETA.[br]
[br]
The game was supposed to be ready for pre-load on the 5th August but it looks like we may be waiting a little longer now.
Counter-Srike: Source will not start pre-loading on the 5th. We are working extremely hard to get it out and will have more information on this soon.[br]

We will keep you informed of any more information we receive.

surprise surprise... :(

why do they taunt us like this! anyone tell me if they have ever released anything on time? what about cz and hl? were those on time or not?

bah, more waiting :hmph:

They were both delayed.

What about TF2? lol, the people who play have already had kids and moved onto better things..

I take this soon as two weeks.

we should be using dates that have been calulated thru the ablitity of bugs fixed every day becasue that varies so much

and besided its just a few stubborned bugs shouldn't take them another year to fix that :|
now stop bashing valve there the ones working to get the game out

Calm dudes, it´s only a little bit. Be patience!:p
Have you not been around long? Valve's "soon" is anywhere between 1-12 months.

lol yeah really itll prolly take till the end of august to get this beta out and going

That's only if we're lucky...

Sorry, I am just in a bad mood, and being informed of the delay is probably one of the stupidest things they can do.

/me wonders why everyone is treating a "beta" like its a full fledged game that people have already paid for. (CZ doesn't count as paying for it)

Really, this is a beta. A beta is not meant to satisfy customers as there are no customers yet.

Argh. Everytime I see the words "Valve" and "delay" together it makes some random muscle of mine atrophy slightly. I really think they should become the next 3D Realms and keep their collective mouths shut if this trend is going to continue.

lol ..didnt you guys all know, they are all playing Doom 3??

Sod your CS: Source, were having fun here at Valve!!

;)

Valve delaying a game?

Now thats taken me completly off guard.

Must have bugs. If only HL2 had a program that patches the game to fix bugs whenever they find them while we are playing.

If only....

Damn, im losing the net for 3 months on the 11th, i was just gonna make the beta, thats really owned me.

Hmm, I'm starting to get a little nervous - will HL2 come out later then late September?

The truth is, Valve seems to always overestimate themselves. They believe that they can finish things in an unrealistic short amount of time. Maybe it's the fact that in today's day and age, games are so complex, with so much code and so many features, they take longer to produce.

But if so, hasn't Valve realized that by now :upstare: ?

They need to be extremely conservative when they make their release dates. If they thought that CS: Source would have been ready for beta by August 5th, they should have told us August 22nd.

years*

I'm becoming such a pessimist :(

I wonder what is up with CS:S beta? From my understanding, CS:S was a beta test for the HL2 engine and net code. Kinda of like the Q3 Test. I hope there isn't a major problem with the engine or the net code.

It's not that they are uncapable of making an accruate release date. They do this to keep their popularity up. If they didn't delay so much, do you think it would be as well known?

It's certainly a rarely used tactic, but it seems to work, even if they piss people off.

well looks like we can expect the beta somewhere between now and April 23th, 2039

Yay! Gives me more time to build my new comp.

Edit: LOL, ApocalypseNow, you have a quote of the person that is in my avatar. CHARLIE DON'T SURF!

u jinked it u bastard

well it does only say that its not gonna preload on the 5th, so hopefully they will only delay the release only a few days, if at all.

Yeah, but it is a bad omen. :flame:

yeah but Ive been here over a year, so your just a wannabe :burp:

I have noticed a pattern emerging.

Whenever there is a vote and I click an option saying "I have total trust in Valve" the game gets delayed.

How quickly people forget that Half-Life was delayed almost a year and one half.

This ain't the same soon like the UT2K4 demo. Remember how HL2 was suppost to be released on September 30, 2003. CS:S will be like that!!!

Didn't see this coming.

Seriously, I don't know how you guys get so worked up over stuff like this. I knew well before now that it would be delayed. Just like HL2 will make it out October is we're extremely lucky.

You haven't seen me here as often lately. You know why? Doom 3 kicks so much ass. Also, Doom 3 actually exists.

Go to hell.

..I mean it, go back and play D3, it's great ;)

As soon as I finish formatting I'll be back into Doom 3 and on it all night. Damn overclocking killing my hard drive....

Yeah Doom 3 exists, well atleast until you play it for an hour or so, then you realize that even though the engine has great potientiel the game has none, and yet its still the best game ive seen from ID.

but hey, one day you will also realize that and it will seem to you as if these forums are crowded and the problem will solve itself.
