Roshan has been working on our player model, and he still has a few tweaks, but here is the model how it stands.

He's looking a bit out of proportion. Head needs to be a bit bigger, arms a bit bigger to fit his torso size, and legs well, idk if those are pants or not but they look messed up. Other than that looks good.:cheers:
 
dude a word of adivce dont let that modeler do any organic models and characters it is so low poly and very und detailed as well as totaly out of proportion.
not to mention that does not looks like the uniform of any armies soldier i have ever seen i know it maybe concep but it shud follow some basics

I think your modeller should use some anatomy references to model something like this, because now it jsut looks aweful...
 
wht im trying to say is that the modeler couldnt see such obvious mistakes in his model anddid not follw any anatomy references .
so i think his modeling should limited to that of guns.
besides dont make any human characters before hl has released its sdk with its skeletons and bone strutures along with xsi.
 
Everyone besides mindless modder, thanks for the crits. The model is being slimmed down as we speak. Also, about that pants thing, those are his pants, bloused over his boots.

mindless modder: When someone post somehting and asks for crits, thats what they want, a conrtructive bit of info on how to improve the model. You don't model camo, so one it is skinned, it will look much, much more detailed.

Sorry, forgot to mention that it wasn't skinned. Most armies in thw worls have pants and boots and a blouse and a pack.... What part isn't like a uniform.
 
I don't go into battle with a rucksack on...

Maybe take it off to move polys to much more needed areas.
 
damn you guys are harsh! My advice is to slim him down, also look at his forearms they are a little short i think, either that or his bicept is a little to long, not sure which :) Its not a bad model, other than the proportions being off in some areas i'd say this model will look pretty nice after its skinned and ready to go :) One last thing though, it looks as though there is a lot of wasted polygons in the head that could be used to flesh out more detail in the face instead, but keep going, optimize and skin this mutha' then lets have a look :)

those were crits to the mod leader not to the modeler im a modeler my self ask hiro .
so i think i know that it is unskinned all im saying is that the modeler has not seen real army uniform it has a lot of things that have been just missed out.

Also, if you are critiquing the model, could you please be so kind as to tell me what is wrong instead of jsut saying that it is wrong? That kind of thing usally accompanies a crit. I currently wear a United States Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) regularly. In my glnac eover the model, i htink that it has all the detail of a uniform that isn't skinned on.

I think yu'r iving yourself to much credit. maybe "flames" but crite usally involve giving advice on how to improve the model.
 
Hands look too small, torso is waaay too wide, and his head looks a lil too round.
 
i was helping u by telling u how to deal with the modelr.
the pants should have pockets the torso shoul be covered by a vest not a shirt like thing a us soldier has millions of pockets and stuff all over thier unform its all flaps pockets thingies.
this model is beyond repair.
u shud start all over again folllowing anatomy blue prints and model the head seperately from profiles and other views of real people.
just discard this model and start the rite way by studying anatomy.
sorry if i sounded rude but wht i was trying to tell u is that u shud let this modeler do guns only not organics.
the current shirt or vest seamlessly transfers from cloth to his real arms u cant make our the difference ?
hl has given us 7500 polys for a character and this mopdel hasnt made the most of those polys thats for sure.
so just start it all over again but make sure the modeler has knowledge of anatomy and knows how to search for reference pics very easily.

See, that wasn't too hard. in the pile of crap, there are some helpful crits. If you ahd jsut critiqued the model in the first place, I wouldn't think that you're an arse, but we all make mistakes.

i was just about to talk to u about a merge betweeen ur mod and mine but i dont think so now .
 
I'm almost interested....however i didn't know you were on a mod team, and my mod almost merged with another team, but that didn't work out.
 
well u can ask hiro for a ll the details we have already made a lot of work where modeling is concerned currently its all being skinned.
 
a note, if your modeller is modelling the latest in DPMs (2000 version) the stand of uniform is to have the bottom of the "blouse" tied up, so it appears somewhat like the DPM pants at the bottom...erm, you'r slimming down the model so that shud be ok...erm, detail is lacking somewhat and also that bag looks way to big, he shud have Webbing and a GI (General Issue) backpack, just some notes...

I'd send you some pictures of mine, but I just handed them all back to Stores Keeper ;( as I'm leaving my Squard and my rank behind me, as I go off to continue my course in Graphic Design, full time....
