CZ preorders UP!!!!!

I think most people still can't come to grips with the fact that a company would have the arrogance (?) to release such an out dated piece of software....and to top it off, they want money for it!! THE AUDACITY!!!

If you don't want it, then don't buy it. Very simple.

Dammit, and my parents only have debit cards. Maybe they'll implement them in the future.

I think £20 for a game is a good deal. I don't know why so many people are complaining about it.

Hopefully Valve will implement payment by Maestro or Cirrus. I can't see them locking out on of Europes most popular cards.

On a side note, am I the only one who is quietly impressed by Steam at the moment?

We'll see when it is released who was right about the quality of it.

No need to worry, i won'be be buying it.

But if you look at the situation very superficially, other companies are releasing all this next gen stuff that really puts CZ to shame. It certainly won't capture the attention of new players, while many current CS players know that CZ is basically just CS 1.6 with bots. 3rd party CS bots are available on the net. Where is the incentive to buy?

I think most consumers will be protesting this decision by Valve and won't be buying it. The window of opportunity for CZ to be popular has passed.

I think there's this general feeling in the multiplayer gaming community that CS should die. IT has been at the top for so very long and it's about time new games dethroned it. With this general mentality amoung gamers, the last thing people want to do is prolong it's life by buying Condition-Zero.

If it's anything like 1.6 then I'll make sure nonbody I know buys it.

Personally I won't be buying anything off steam for a long time so the thought of something being released on Steam first annoys me greatly, but it's not going to happen so I'm not going to worry about it.

On a side note, i doubt anyones going to crack Steam, it's encrypted now and every encryption is unique so you can't use somone elses key. I'm not sure what the encryption is but I know it will be too high to be worth try to crack it. Somone might find a way of fooling Steam into thinking you have paid for it but changeing Steams working memory or hexing it will stop it connecting to the Steam network. Basically you would have to be very sad to try cracking it (if the security is as good as I think it is).

CZ has been completely redone and got a respectable score in PCZone UK, not in the 90% but I think 75-80%. So its not terrible, and people will buy it, and its a nice game to test steam out on. It allows them 2 go to third parties and say "look, CZ went out over steam, there were no problems, will charge you half of what publishers want per game, and quite a lot of people have steam". Its a leading product in order for them to show off its success to other potential customers.

Even if it gets messed up they can say "Yeah, we released CZ, and saw all the bugs, so your game will go smoothly on this".

P.S. If there was a general feeling amoung gamers that CS should die, it would. There would be nothing to keep it alive. You mean that there is a general feeling amoung people that only n00bs play CS and they are above that. Thats fine, but CS is still the most popular online game, and its mechanics are great. CZ is a perfectly reasonable release, okay so it looks outdated and u can get the multiplayer free, but I wonder if Valve plan to update it when HL2 comes out. I have a feeling if u buy CZ you will get other freebies in the future.

Where does steam put this pre-loaded game. I don't even remember downloading anything. Then again I have DSL and I may not have noticed anyhting. Can anyone tell me which folder it's in?

The guy who said crackers would have a head start was SOOOOO RIGHT. This game is prolly free right now if it's sitting in one of my folders. There are very few systems of protection for sofware that can't be cracked. It's really a matter of time.

Am I reading this all wrong? Do you get pre-loaded when you buy or does every steam user have it? Even so, it would only take one guy to "buy" it then crack it. Just my thoughts. Like Vivendi cares about Valve using steam, They know that people can't steal what doesn't exist. People can't steal games from warehouses or from Stores. It's a matter of time to steal stuff off of computers though.

Everyone is missing the fact that you can ONLY play as counter-terrorists....

The game went gold .. last year :| lol, it's sat in Sierra's hands for awhile now, unclear of what the holdup was. Supposedely, language localization was part of the hangup, but who REALLY knows.

This is incorrect. The game didnt go gold last year. I was indeed completed and sent off to reviewers but after PCZone gave it a bad review Valve decided to re-evaluate the game and hand development over to Turtle Rock studios to make levels using the bots rather than the story thing that Ritual worked on. So it has not been sat idle at all.

Im getting really sick of people bashing a game they havent played yet.

The way i see it is, if you play CS a lot like i do, you're gonna buy CZ sometime in the near future. Maybe not everyone but over 60% of you will.

Im not a beta tester and i have not played the leaked version, but i can tell from the pics and the reviews it will be better than 1.6.

CS:CZ With Sierra
rizzuh @ 1:34 pm pst - cs: cond. zero - 63 comments - hot topic
Mike Booth, of Turtle Rock Studios, has posted quick word about Counter-Strike: Condition Zero on the CS Bot Forums. Here's what Mike has to say:

Many of you have been asking when CZ and/or the bots will be available.

Sierra has the final US replication master, so CZ should be on store shelves very soon. The ball, as they say, is in Sierra's court at this point.

Hopefully the wait will be short.

I wasn't talking about Ritual's version -- TRS' version went gold last october, and there are the articles to prove it. It's been in limbo for quite some time (such is why everyone suspected Steam was the final reason for CZ's delay, and it looks like it was), I've been following CZ's development since the first magazine article covering GearBox's version.

I'm pretty impressed with Steam right now. I wonder if the bit torrent guy had a hand in this? Probably.

They haven't introudced any peer to peer yet from what I can tell. The hit yesterday for the CZ preload seemed to mainly affect server 13. Then again, that might be an indication that if it was only one server serving the CZ content, where was the rest of it coming from? Maybe we were taking it from other peers and vice versa.

I would imagine that they would have announced this in their recent release change logs however.
