By the way I was reading a review of CS:CZ and it didn't sound like it is such a great game.

I found a review from a credible gaming magazine dated 1/26/04

The game went gold .. last year :| lol, it's sat in Sierra's hands for awhile now, unclear of what the holdup was. Supposedely, language localization was part of the hangup, but who REALLY knows.

The only type of payment Steam is listing at the moment is Mastercard and Visa. Now as the majority of people here probably won't have a full credit card as we're all quite young then this information may be valuable. I have a Visa ELECTRON card. It's a shitty cut down version of Visa and basically only allows you to draw out £300 a day cash from an ATM, and generally can only be taken over the counter as some payment systems require a signature for it. It will also only take the money you have in the account.

Very very occasionally some internet payment systems will accept Visa Electron and it will give you the option for it. On others it will just have the four major credit cards listed (MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club and American Express) but selecting Visa will sometimes authorise your Visa Electron card. It's always worth giving it a go!!

For those of you not rich/stupid enough to have a credit card, try it on Visa. Switch and Solo cards will NOT work.

The performance of CZ, will not affect the release of HL2 at all.

Well i guess the next big question to ask is....

Why don't they activate CZ before it's released in stores? Perhaps there's a contract that says they can't?

I ask because Steam is designed to eliminate the publisher. Use it's advantages..to it's advantage!! Instead of game going gold - wait 3 weeks to replicate and distribute. With steam game goes gold, release on Steam and everyone can get it within a day or two. Can you imagine having Half-Life 2 pre-loaded on your comp but you have to wait another 1-2 weeks till it's officially in stores before they activate it?

Put yourself in Vivendi's shoes. They're not going to be exactly jumping for joy about the fact that Valve are now "self publishing" their games. I'm surprised Vivendi even let Valve implement it anyway.

It'll be bad enough in their eyes that Valve are actually releasing it electronically, it'd be even worse if they were giving the customer the oppotunity to buy it BEFORE it comes out in the shops. Most people will just order it from the internet because they can't wait. Thus making Vivendi even more useless.

Also, bare in mind how big these games will be. They reckon HL2 will on at least 4 CDs. That's about 2.8GB compressed. It's going to take you weeks to download anyway so I see why they do it. It needs to be done otherwise no one will be playing the game as soon as it comes out.

Dammit, and my parents only have debit cards. Maybe they'll implement them in the future.

I think £20 for a game is a good deal. I don't know why so many people are complaining about it.

On a different note, I wonder how long it's going to be before someone cracks it and can play it now.

I think most people still can't come to grips with the fact that a company would have the arrogance (?) to release such an out dated piece of software....and to top it off, they want money for it!! THE AUDACITY!!!

You have to look at it in perspective.

All of the models have been redesigned and made higher poly. Some of the standard multiplayer textures have been redone. New maps. New single player option called Tour of Duty (?) which has lots of Q3 A style gameplay in. Different objectives to complete within the skirmishes. Multiplayer and LAN bots. Deleted scenes section containing all of Ritual's work. A full singleplayer mission based episode with about 5-10 hours gameplay. Valve also mentioned that they were working on putting something special in there I think too. I can't quite remember.

It's a pretty big package for £20.
