Dark Family Secrets

After he served WWII one of my grandfathers traveled around Africa and Arabia. He met and helped train arab fighters/terrorists that attacked British interests. He also befriended some tribes in Africa and had an cheated on my grandmother with an African woman. Because of that my grandmother hated black people/non whites for the longest time (LOL it's funny if you can imagine her sorry)

Then my mom married my dad (mexican) and it was like EHH but then she got over it and liked my dad a lot.

My other grandfather served twice in the Korean war and once in Vietnam as a combat controller (Special forces unit- go in and create/defend airfields in hostile territory or move in behind lines to call in targets. Blow up/capture enemy airfields, etc)

He has a silver star/various other awards for massive heroics but if you ask him what he got them for he says "I don't want to talk about it!"

edit: my great grandma jumped the border and right after that gave birth to my grandma making her a US citizen LMFAO

edit2:

could be ...many right wing/fascist americans helped franco ..many left wing americans fought against franco ..most famously Ernest Hemmingway
I read some articles about the "Abraham Lincoln Brigade" it was pretty interesting.

edit: Didn't have to be left wing to fight against them either.

But had to be right to fight for them though yeah.

Oh God. My mom says our relatives were high ranking officers in the Spanish military, possibly Generals. For all I know, my family could be the reason the Republicans didn't win the war :|

I'm not sure how much of a dark secret this is, but one of my ancestors was supposed to sail to the new world on the Titanic and missed the boat.

Probably a good thing for me, since he was one of those Eastern European immigrant who would have been locked down in steerage.
Ha, this is funny, this exact thing happened to my grandpa
Definitely not a dark secret, but quite the coincidence

Yeah lots of elderly people tell that story i've heard it many times. I'm sure many are true, but more aren't.

heh if you read through the something awful thread on the first page you'll see at least a half dozen stories of relatives who just missed sailing on the titanic

my mom's old boyfriend, burned our house down, framed my sister, threatened to kill me and has broken into our house before with unseuccessful attempts at murder. He has never been caught yet.

Nothing really recent, and by that I mean nothing within the last eighty years, but my great great grandfather and my great grandfather ran a bar in the basement of their grocery store during prohibition.

Also, I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. Don't tell nobody.

Sir Francis Bacon (My relative of the same last name) may have wrote a little bit of William Shakespeare's plays. He didn't submit them because he wanted to hide his "royal backround"..

Some say that Bacon may have been Shakespeare!! omg!

Sir Francis Bacon,

"Those things which are explained in the prose works of Bacon are to be found repeated, or alluded to, or forming the basis of beautiful metaphors and similes, in the Plays. And the vocabulary of Bacon and Shakespeare is to a surprising degree the same." Constance Pott.

Like Edward De Vere, it is believed that Sir Francis Bacon wrote under the nom de plume of "Shakespeare" to hide his royal background and to abide Rosicrucian order, were anonymity had to be maintained for a hundred years.

A major proof that Sir Francis Bacon truly authored the the Bard's plays is the "Northumberland Manuscript". This bore both Shakespeare’s name and Sir Francis Bacon’s. It also mentions by name the plays Richard II and Richard III. Tellingly, it included the phrase 'by Francis William Shakespeare', and the words, 'essays by the same author'. This has been used to prove Sir Francis Bacon used the name "Shakespeare" as a nom de plume.

Sir Francis Bacon’s eligibility as the true author of Shakespeare’s work rests in his legal knowledge and general education. It is known that Bacon was familiar with Rosicrucian, Hermetic, Kabbalistic and Neoplatonic themes. The poem Venus and Adonis, As You Like It, and Love’s Labour’s Lost all feature Rosicrucian themes but this does not mean Sir Francis wrote them; only that he was in a position to write about Rosicrucian themes.

Unfortunately this is where the similarity ends as the Bard discusses legal concepts and terms far more abstractly than Bacon. Even worse for Bacon supporters is the question of where Bacon could find the time to write 37 plays, and 154 sonnets, and act in many of these own plays whilst leading a double life.

Furthermore the claim that Bacon authored Shakespeare’s poetry suffers from the fact that Bacon’s poetry is abrupt and stilted unlike the Bard's. Bacon supporters reply that Francis Bacon’s Promus is the only surviving collection of terms and phrases which occur commonly in Shakespeare’s plays. Unfortunately this does not mean Bacon authored them. Like Stratfordians, evidence for authorship is highly subjective.

I don't know if it's dark, but it is cool...

P.S. I don't know if this is true, but there is alot of things about it..

Some of my family set up a fake website saying you could download an Aimbot for CS if you entered your Steam username and password. They then spread the url around and managed to steal about $4000 worth of Steam accounts.

I believe he tried, several times, to start fights with Scotland. All of it.

I stayed with him once when he lived in Staffordshire. Went out that night, and it was really unnerving to see people cross the street to avoid him. No-one looked directly at him, his girlfriend or anyone else with him. He's not an especially big bloke, but he just exudes this aura of "you spill my pint?". Scary.

My great grandfather was convinced British rule was best for our country. He refused to join the independence movement.

Not that dark, huh? :|

Most of my family history before WW2 is lost. :|
Nothing since then is de-classified.

I dont have any cool war stories to tell - they wouldnt let my grandad join the army in WWII because he was a sheet metal worker, and deemed too important to the war effort to risk at the front lines. He did help man an AA gun on the back of a train for a while though, and he claims they brought down a Heinkel during the Battle of Britain.

My great-uncle was a communist, who dissappeared sometime during the Malayan Emergancy. His body was never found.

Darwinism in action.

My great-uncle fought on the German side in WWII, has a portrait of Hitler(when I was about 8 I asked who it was and he responded really proud 'That's Fuhrer Adolf Hitler' :| ) and wears his uniform sometimes. I don't really see him anymore

I think a Great Uncle of mine or something cut his thumb off to avoid military service LOL.
My Dad did business with the man who drove the tank to the Kremlin in 1990ish.
No other secrets I can think of.

 You old kidder, Feath.

The Irish side of my family seized control of the Irish monarchy once - and then lost it

And this is quite hard to verify(obviously) but I am the great great yadyadya grandson of The Duke of Wellington(Arthur Wellesley) with a twist, he had extra marital activities with a nanny and had a daughter and was obviously cast out(apparently sent to Australia) and that secret kept quite well hidden. Untill a while back.

My mum is distantly descended from Robert the Bruce.

Meanwhile, my great grandfather got rejected for work on the Titanic (he was trying to get taken on because it looked impressive) but was turned down because he was too young.

No actual 'dark' secrets though...my Grandad is French if that counts.

Racist.

Let me think hmmm, dark secrets. My grandpas dad was an outspoken activist against Stalin. Also my grandpa and gradma were planned marriages at birth so they were living together. My grandpas dad did stuff under the table to survive (like selling tobacco under Stalins nose) for money. It turned out that a sun-of-a-bitch neighbor was jealous of their house and told the police what he was doing. He was sent to a political prison and died there. :( Meanwhile my grandpa and grandma were sent to one of numerous concentration camps courtesy of Stalin. My grandmas family was never seen again and my grandpa was an only child. But they survived and my grandma still keeps in touch with an old friend she met at a concentration camp. The ironic part was that neighbor eventually took their house over. My grandma actually knows where Gorbichav lives. She met him in a grocery store in Waltham, MA. :O

And because my dads side is completely Armenian no doubt some were in the Armenian Genocide. That was the first genocide and more people died than WW2! They actually made people walk to their death in a desert! You should really do a wikipedia search and learn about it. A distant relative on my moms side was a southern slave owner lol. And also on my moms side a person was bitten by a racoon while tree logging and died of rabies.

...

I found a huge f*ck off dildo under my mate's mum's pillow once.

What are you doing looking under your mate's mum's pillow?

And what did you do with the plaything?
