dead rising 2?

LOL. Exclusive for the next 6 months they mean. Seriously, people need to stop pretending that this stuff is anything but TIMED exclusive content. Ugh.

Who is going to pay for a demo after the game comes out?

Co-op so far is, well, basic. The lion's share of development work appears to have gone into getting the feature working rather than making it distinctive, and to that end, Dead Rising 2 appears to be mostly successful. All story progress belongs to the hosting player's game. The appeal for visiting players is in some ways reminiscent of a loot based RPG, where they can grind PP to level up their Chuck and build new weapons to bring back with them to their own game. The game's structure remains unchanged in co-op, with slight difficulty tweaks to speak of, but no other meaningful differences apparent.

...

The concern here is that after about 20 minutes of side-by-side zombie killing, it didn't feel like there was much else to do with my co-op partner. As it's in place now, playing with a friend feels less cooperative and more like an experience in parallel, where the two of you are doing your own thing in the same space. Capcom didn't elaborate on what other co-op aspects of the game will be included in the final version, so in that regard, we're still in wait-and-see mode.'

hmm. A little less hyped now. More than any game I can think of Dead Rising 2 deserves a fully fleshed out co-op mode.

so, anyone played Case Zero yet?
I have, and to those of you that are skeptical about paying $5 for a "glorified demo", let me say that it's well worth it

first off, it's FIVE DOLLARS you cheap fuks!
secondly, there's lots to do; the main storyline, psychopaths, people to save, weapons to find and craft, achievements, and ZOMBIES TO KILL!!
also, you can play through it as many times as you want and your xp etc will carry over (trust me you won't be able to do it all the first time). and of course your xp, money, recipes etc carry over into the full game
anyway, it's good fun, meatier than your typical demo and well worth 5 bucks IMHO

Have they removed that shitty beat the clock mechanic or is the story line still bound to it? That's what ruined the whole experience for me in the first game.

^that.

"Hey, let's put you in a mall with metric ****load of toys to kill zombies with and shit buckets of side activities. Oh, and you have a time limit. HAVE FUN MOTHER ****ER."

I owned the game since it originally came out but i have yet to beat the game because of this frustrating and idiotic design decision.
Thankfully they'll be releasing a PC version of the sequel. So, trainers will take care of this shitty mechanic if it's still in place.

you don't have to play according to the time limit. actually, what specifically are we talking about here? the game gives you a set time before it ''ends'' but you can just reload straight after that and continue mindlessly killing zombies all you want (your stats even carry over, if i'm not mistaken). the only time limits i can think of are the survival times of survivors and set times you have to get to a mission but it's a sandbox game filled with zombies - people aren't going to just sit around waiting for you all through the game, how would it progress from there? it's sandbox, it needs new and different things to happen at varying times to keep it from just being a glorified garrys mod room full of objects and enemies.

i for one enjoyed the game just fine with times to get to places and whatnot. it's part of the challenge, to see how many people you can save and also to see all the different things that happen during the different days and nights. if it was just a endless mall full of zombies where nothing time related happened, i can imagine it would get stale pretty quickly. i got bored of just killing zombies within the first hour of playing or so, i had a lot more fun plotting and figuring out how the days unfolded and then setting to fulfilling as much as i could in that time during a second or third playthrough.

wasn't there an "infinite mode" in the first game?

oh yeah, i never played that one. i completed overtime mode though, that was pretty fun. gives you an extra day, and then it unlocks infinity mode after that. everyone that's whining about time, go unlock that.

(Infinity) Mode: A sandbox mode where Frank must last as long as he can. Frank can now die of hunger, with the health bar depleting by one every 100 seconds. Food is now limited and no longer exists in unlimited or replenishing supply anywhere within the mall. The transceiver, some watch functions, and the save system are disabled. Everyone, including survivors, are now enemies and will drop character-related items and food when killed. The game continues until Frank's inevitable demise. Infinity mode is only available after successfully completing Overtime Mode.

Yeah, some fun that is.

Actually, it was loads of fun. Storymode was set up in a godawful manner, though. I am excited to see if they fixed that, but regardless of the co-op hate, I think I'll still love it.

Yeah, some fun that is.

so play it in regular mode then, what's the problem? as i already said, the time limit is nothing if all you want to do is kill zombies or complete the story in your own way as it's really quite a lot of time to just be killing zombies and in the end, you can just start over with all your stats and rinse repeat.

Has it been confirmed if DR2 will have a true free-play mode(Unlike DR1 which had timelimits in every mode)?

DR1 actually has free play mode.

I don't view Infinity Mode as mentioned above as a proper free-play mode since the game is set up so that one constantly has to do what the game wants one to(I.e. find food) in order to play that mode/survive in it.

He means the Infinite mode. There's no time limit and the game ends whenever you die.

just man the **** up and play the challenge that infinite mode gives you, keep your character alive whilst looking for food or as i've said a few times now, just play the regular mode for the alloted 72 hours and don't pay any attention to the time limits

christ and people have the ****ing nerve to complain about games being too easy these days

I'm sure they've heard the complaints surrounding the clock and have addressed it in the sequel...
I mean what would be the point of having co op if you couldn't just aimlessly mess around?!

The point of Dead Rising, and I guess with the sequel, is that the game is very short and meant to be completed multiple times - each time you're stronger, with more abilities and more knowledge of the mall. Just do what you want. If you miss the time limit, who cares? You'll get it on the 3rd or 4th play through.

I just got dead rising 2. Just had to update my playstation. Who here plays it?

Have reviews been good? Only read Eurogamer's. Gave it 8/10.

Want to get it and the new F1 game. And prolly FIFA 11 on Friday.

Finally, some gaems!

I don't know about scores, but so far it's alot of fun.

Girlfriend's been playing, looks... like Dead Rising. Nice changes I've noticed: the text is readable on an SDTV (you may have to squint a bit sometimes), and you don't have Otis prattling on every 5 seconds and complaining when you don't answer his calls. The radio is used to dole out missions, which go straight on your watch to view at your convenience.

Anyone tried coop?

Yeah it's nice. You just join a friends game and play the story. It's exactly the same but with a friend there.

So when you play the game through after finishing it, does it remember with side missions you finished or does it give them all to you again?

if its like DR1 i think it would just give you them again

So these side missions affected what ending you got in the original? As I've been trying to do all of them in the sequel but I just end up running out of time. Is it possible to finish the game completeting every side quest?

I think so. So far I have only missed one mission I got through those texts or whatever. And that was just becouse I forgot about it.

Having heaps of fun with this so far. Wsn't that keen when I played the first game on 360 ages ago, but know I have gotten my head around the fact I won't see everything on my first playthrough I'm taking the time to explore and experiment with the weapon combo system and it's brilliant.

First 18 minutes of the game (Intro and escape, so spoilers):

Finished it yesterday. Fun game indeed and the combo system is a nice addition. I got to be honest though. Thankfully there's plenty of trainers out there for the PC versions that will let you revert the time whenever you want. I never would have bothered finishing it otherwise.

Take that, timed missions! HA!
