Decent FPS? (Frames Per Second)

60 fps. No more, no less.

I don't like to see tearing. Ever.

Does smooth frame rate or high frame rate matter more though?

If you had a choose of 100fps that dips to 30fps in severe battles or could guarentee a constant 60fps in every situation, which would you prefer?

I'd say smooth frame rate rather than high frame rate. 60 fps in every situation is much preferable IMO.

I have no standards. I have played games at 2 seconds per frame (yes spf, like sunblock). Ive even tried to play warcraft 3 at 5spf, that sucked intensesly. I wish the salesman had mentioned that Compaq Presarios werent gaming computers...

So you're saying it would take 5 seconds for that frame to change? You couldn't play like that if you wanted to in any FPS game lol. I perfer above 30 FPS. I never check my FPS anyway, all that matters to me is that the game doesn't jerk around or move slow because of low FPS.

Exactly, not exactly fun.

Strategy/Flightsims 20+
FPS/Action 40+

Don't like tearing
but at the same time I don't like using Vsync when my FPS changes above and below my Refreshrate. Going 30 to 60 FPS or 43 to 85 back and forth is no fun either.

How can you guys tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS? I only notice if my frame rate drop below ~27 FPS.

I really don't care about frame rate, just as long as it's stable. I'll take a game that can keep 25 fps no matter what the situation rather than one which jumps up and down between 30 and 60. Spikes in the framerate bug the hell out of me, all I need is stability.

Ah, that's another thing. I don't mind tearing at all, so I never have v-sync on. What about everyone else?

as close to the refresh rate as possible, without Vsync on (as it causes more problems than it solves) and you dont notice tearing anyway if the framerates so high.

Aslong as it's moderatley high and stable I suppose it's okay.

Some of you are complaining about FPS jumping from say 30-60 then why not cap the FPS at a max of 45 or something.

SP1? When I tryed that demo, in the palace level, I had plenty of time to consider my next action :D

After playing SP2, I think they got that problem fixed...
