Decline of hl2.net?

Recently, I have visited the Halflife2.net forums and the Half-Life 2 discussion fourms and nothing ever seems to get posted on them. Is this because of decreased activity due to the passing of the beta scandal, is it all of the one-timer members "quiting" the forums? Or is it a general decline in use of the forums? Just a random thought. Tell me what you think :imu: :imu:

Well, there are nothing to discuss, after leak of source code and beta, Valve is at the total lockdown. I forgot when I saw some new legal information. If, for example, new movie would come out showing off something cool, forums would burst once again. Also, nobody will miss one-timers. I for one glad that number of people visiting these forums declined, not so crowed anymore.

That’s true, but everything is changing, you can’t keep something forever in the same condition. Reminds me of the book I read in the High School. I don’t really remember the name of the book, but it was about African tribe and what they had to face when white mercenaries came there, to “teach” Christianity. Elders were worried that tribe will fall apart, and it did. Main character of the book fought against changes, but in the end he hang himself, because he couldn’t stop them. There is no way to go back.

See, you have nothing to say, because you know it will happen, bunch of topics with elite language, tons of uninformed people, wondering why HL2 has no multiplayer. I say, it’s better to let Valve finish the game, at least when it comes out you won’t be hyped as much as you were during the summer.

I don't even come here because of HalfLife 2 anymore. I just do out of habit. Even if a new release date gets announced I won't get excited. Not until there's a review will I really care. I don't even bother checking the Discussion board anymore - as if there's anything even remotely important to discuss at this point.


Edit: Lone, and Dimitri did you guys see the MXC last night with that fat lady on the Log Drop? - I swear last nights episode was the funniest yet.

I have no idea when its on , I just catch it now and then , I dont want to know when its on because they play so many episodes at once I could quickly wear it out.

Well, part of the problem is the lack of half-life 2 news at at this time. During this black-out, there isn't anything new to discuss so most threads are rehased or didn't need to happen if the poster just did a little search.

I check the forums daily. But I rarely see anything that interests me. After the 'beta' release, the General Discussion has achieved notoriety not only here but in other forums as well (tips hat to mods for keeping sanity). So that's probably why most of us here are struggling, there's nothing much to report.

Anyway, it isn't as crowded as a month ago, true.

Well I do come here for HL2 a little bit, but not as much as during the summer. But yes, the habit of visiting the forums is really bad - I wanted to go on some educational website that i knew the address of but before I could stop myself i had already typed in the forum addy at the speed of light and pressed enter :dork:

well the forum was much busier in August because for most pple school had not started.. and even in September, school was just starting and the work load for most students was pretty light and stuff but now we're in October and thats when the work load starts to pick up..

anyway, thats one explanation, another is the one everyone has already pointed out, meaning theres not alot of new content to discuss about HL2 so think these 2 reasons are more than enough to have traffic slow down
