Demo out on Fileplanet

It ran like crap on my computer at 1280x1024 with textures at high and most of the effects on, granted I have a inferior graphics card. Changed the resolution to 1024x768 and it ran pretty okay and a few effects turned off (V-Sync, post-processing effects) though it's still too difficult to aim because the framerate is very jumpy.

About the game, nice atmosphere I must say and excellent sound (5.1 <3). There's a bit too much shooting for my taste though, I'd expected it would be more puzzle-adventuring over shooting gallery.

I'm SURE it won't even run for me. Yay. No Bioshock until november/december.

What are your system specs?

(Arrgh, 16 kb/s! Will this thing even run on a 6800 Ultra?)

Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 2.4GHz
1500MB Ram
GeForce 6800 256MB PCI-E

I'm also running in Windows Vista so that might reduce the performance a bit.

Come off it, this is edited version of the intro in which it's been modified just so it can show off quite abit in small amount of time/space. I think it's unfair to judge what's been called a 20 hour game upon this 15 minute exp. which isn't even going to be the same in the real intro/first 15 minutes.

But even so, you don't even need to do any shooting anyway, and when you can shoot enemies (a total of about 15 in the demo, fightable at least, give or take?)

Perhaps you're right, I hope so. But for the demo I must say that I didn't like the fact that it was so much fighting added into it. There was also a small video that played after you completed the demo which contained brute force action pretty much throughout the entire life span, I really hope the full game isn't as fast-paced as what was showed.

Anyway, apart from the shooting I really liked what I played, if and when I decide to upgrade my rig I'll get it, not right now as the experience gets killed when your computer decides to take a dump.

I was out for a number of hours today doing errands and with my brother picking up a new car for him. Got home and it was done downloading. Was going at 100kb/s when I left.

30FPS? Probably ok but it really depends how fast things are moving on screen and how fast you move your crosshairs. No way to compare to TV/Movies with built-in motion blur. Plus interlaced TV is actually 60 FPS (alternating half frames but your mind sees it as whole while streaming).

I have played the demo, Excellent game, its worth it

Hi guys, I'm back from a lengthy hiatus. Anyways, finished downloading the demo an hour ago. Started it up, and it ran at a pretty smooth 50 fps. Looks great, but there's one problem. At random times during the demo my video drivers error and the game exits out. I'm hoping this is what the new drivers being released today are going to fix.

Nice, lets see if it fixes the problem. If so, I'll be all set for the release tomorrow.

Less technology talk, more opinions on the demo.

That driver did the trick! Running at an almost constant 60 FPS (only dips to about 50 with a lot of particles on screen.) No more errors as well. All settings are maxed at 1600x1200. Here's some specs to go by:

e6600 @ 3ghz
8800GTS 640mb @ 600/900
2GB DDR2 600 (dual channel)

Amazing demo. This game is by far the most atmospheric one I've ever experienced. Can't wait for the full release tomorrow.

So no activation patch for those of us who got the encrypted version?

=/

Downloading off Steam unless i can get my encrypted version sorted
