Descriptions of blood and bullet holes

Are there any descriptions of what bullets will do to people? IOW, can one shoot out that chicks eyes that is bitching about you staring at her? Also, any word on what will happen if you start to slaughter all your friends? Will everyone panic and run or will they try to fight you (like a scientist throwing a computer at you). Can you make up with your friends after you murdered one of them...(e.g., be nice to them - what I mean by that is don't murder them anymore)?

Shooting out eyes sounds pretty rad but it seems a little gory for halflife 2.
 
well Soldier of Fortune 2 had that kind of gore. but i have to agree and say that seems like to much for halflife2.
 
Are they permanent like, can you put a nice bullet hole in your girl friend's noggin? That's an idea, create a mode that give characters eyes like Kenny (South Park) whenever they die (Like one eye half clode and the other open) and you can make rats come and take away the bodies.

Gabe mentioned in an interview that Half-Life 2 will not have a damage system akin to Soldier of Fortune's. I don't know if this applies to decals as well.

Unfortunetly, even though Soldier of Fortune 2 is my favourite game, I must say, the gore feature was slightly exaggerated.
It would be impossible to rip a guy's body apart with a shotgun let alone a pistol.

Heh heh...I loved using cheats in that game...what's the really powerful shotgun-like one that blows away about half their body when you shoot it at them once?

I'm sorry, by slightly did you really mean "Hey, how come when I shot him in the leg his face came off/he exploded/a nuke went off?"

im sorry i couldnt ignore this....have u ever seen wut a shotgun can do to someone? i have.it is entirely possible but unlikely. and yes SOF games do exaggerate gore...thats wut people want in a game like SOF.
 
It's weird really, I pistol-whipped someone and kill him with pistol-whip, then he bleeds.
 
you could probably code it yourself, but it wouldn't be "trivial" as gabe would say :D

i gotten knocked out before and i bleed, but only because i hit the ground so hard

Hit one or more times on seperate occasions by a parent or gaurdian with or without use of a "beating aid" (Belt, cane, etc.)

This is where Half-Life will go into fag land and Duke Forever will shine. Gore = good
 
Sorry, Half Life 2 will own, but Duke will DOUBLE your expectations for the games of the future.
 
I like sof2, it will be great if they make sof3 with source engine.

Dnf is using unreal tournment engine, i saw all its videos, it's full of action, but the graphics, the physics and the gameplay are just too poor to meet today's standard. It could be a classic, but far from being the best fps game.
 
its funny in sof2 on the mission wehre you are at headquarters. and you meet with those 3 guys to discuss a mission. turn on cheats. and snipe the heads off the 3 guys before you step into the meeting room.

now walk in and the cutscene will begin, but it will just be john mullins talking to no one cause the guys are all dead, but the cutscene still goes on. when its time for their lines, the camera zooms in on their headless carcasses and waits.

john mullins: so what do i do this in mission?

guy: ..........................

john mullins: ah i see. ok

its the funnay!

Not 'actually' sexist is it. It's just murdering a woman. But hey its better we take out our killing urges in games than in real life. Personally i expect myself (and everyone else for that matter) to regularly take potshots at 'friendlies' in the game when i get bored...
 
Well, i read in an interview, if you hit an enemy the bullets(holes) will stay on the body ( pretty neat i think ;))
 
rainbow6 did bullet hole decals on models like in 1996 about? dont think any game has done it since, besides more rainbow6 and rogue spear addons.

id like to first kill the gman, then pick him up with gravity gun and watch his rag doll corpse interact with things

yeah, that was the first I believe who had real-time appearence of bullet wounds. Then came hitman, the first game ever to feature ragdoll-animations (and i still think they used the best system for hit-recoils), and it also featured bullet-decals on human bodies.

Hitman did. But that's besides the point; the fact is that yes, Half-Life 2 will have hit decals.
