Deus Ex: Invisible War

I didn't really like any of the endings. I found JC's ending to be creepy, but I went with it first anyway.

The Omar were fantastic, though. I love seeing different posthuman concepts.
I don't know... They looked like they had equipped the Vacuum head powerup from Dynamite Headdy. Mind you, most of the Human models tread the line between 'good for their time' and 'OMG, Pixar's Tin Toy baby just grew up and had some marginally less ugly kids'. Or perhaps the Bloom option under graphics just made terrible visions flicker across my retinas.

Exactly. Ion Storm surely knew that everyone would go along with whatever their old player character was getting up to, so they had to find a way of making the other options appealing. Well, they were supposed to anyway. They just made them all unsatisfactory and therefore, equally appealing.

Actually, I was definitely leaning towards Jankowski's 'Shoot them all and let God decide' philosophy. They were all ineffective rulers, so why not start from scratch? Oh. Scorched Earth? Transhuman master race? What, I didn't sign on for this shit!

The only ending I did was the one where all the factions were destroyed and the Omar were the only ones left.

I went for the Helios ending first. Didn't really like the idea, but as Absinthe said, other factions were assholes.

Did you know that there is a secret ('real') ending? When you're in the UNATCO HQ, grab the flag that's behind the damaged wall, not far from the entrance, and while holding it, find the toilet on the middle floor and flush it.

That was a much more satisfying ending than any of the others. It's probably the only area with so many NPCs too.

Me too. I just thought "nobody should have to take this kind of bullshit from you, any of you. It's not good enough." I wanted them all to go away. Unfortunately, Jankowski had disappeared by the time I decided my righteous fury, and I had to go with the Helios ending.

Then I went '

'. It felt like I had been lied to or grossly misread the situation. Because although JC claims "Helios will communicate, not assimilate. Life will go on as usual," it really didn't look like that to me in the final cutscene.

It's ironic, that the perfect democracy has to use the same methods of a perfect dictatorship (remember Page and his transformation?). To be honest, I believe the Helios ending to be the best one, since universal biomodification equals equality, as everyone will be able to tap the greatest knowledge resource created.

The Illuminati ending is appealing too, but it's based on a binary division of humans - the few that know and the many that don't. Which was the same kind of society MJ12 was estabilishing.

Then are the Omar. The ending is quite a twist and the least appealing (despite the permanent 50% discount for all hardcore Russian transhuman porn the Omar trader promises you), as it effectively ruins the Earth indefinitely.

And the Templars. Best designed faction, completely out of the question to follow, though.

I hated the Omar and Templars ending. It's too ironic to help people who don't like biomods D:
And the Omar... no comment.
The best ending is probably Helios, because that's how I always wanted it to be since DX. I like the Illuminati ending, but I want to know what the **** is Ophelia. I don't remember!

I hated the templars cos nuff said.
I hated the illuminati cos they're just bad plot points (former freedom fighters suddenly becoming the illuminati....?)
I liked JC as well he's JC! But his ending is kind of O_O
Omar were cool adn the only decent ending.

Ophelia is the Illuminati orbital space station designed to control the flow of information.

It's quite ironic that in order to preserve freedom, the former freedom fighters become what they fought. It's not a stretch to say that Morgan Everett, Stanton Dowd etc. tried to reestabilish the Illuminati reign following the collapse, only to see Silhouette led by Chad and Nicole oppose and remove them with the latter deciding to use existing Illuminati infrastructure to save the world. Literally.

So I'm going to play Deus Ex again, and I'm remembering that great feeling that always happened in so many parts of the game. For example "IM IN HONG KONG!!!" or "Oh shit... THE SHIP" (people who played knows exactly what I'm talking about), "OMG MJ12 COMMANDOS!!!"
I really hope DX3 can make me feel as good as DX did.

Everyone go put the flag in Manderly's toilet in Invisble War now!

What about the party escort submission position?

One of the quotes among the developers notes in that 'ending' has them reacting to what happens when something goes into water in the engine. Shame they didn't actually explain what was so wrong with the water that they decided to cut it all. I've always wanted to know how they made such a fundamental f*** up. They must have been shitting themselves when they realised that they were going to end it on an Island surrounded by the stuff. Good job they had random walls of Ice to save the day!

Those walls of ice were also pretty convenient for breaking down the map into multiple parts, easing the burden on consoles...

God damn it.
