Do you believe in Aliens from outspace?

I think one of the main successes of precessors of humans was having an opposable thumb, as well as being able to stand on the hind legs.

If that sort of reasoning was correct there would be no point in scientifically prooving the above is impossible. We know you cannot travel faster than the speed of light becuase Einstein prooved it.

That's not really accurate. We know very little of the universe and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we'll find a way around Einstein's theories. For example, what if we find a way to move space rather than mass? There's no laws against space moving faster than light.

Wrong. Simple proof of your wrongness, if the earths gravity was half the strength it is now, we would look very different.

Yes, obviously the planetary environment greatly affects a species form. I was however pointing out that on earth, as it is now, we evolved the way we are because we came from primates (who evolved the way they are because of their environment yes). I was pointing out that just because we evolved on earth it's no gurantee that we would look like this. Or in other words, the environments on a planet are too varies to always produce a humanoid shape.

We move most efficently.

What do you base that statement off of? I highly doubt that.

Exactly, the person doesn't actually understand evolution.
He thinks what we were before shapes us rather than our enviroment, which is silly(very obviously too, no?)

I understand it just fine thanks.

I heard some guy on the radio say so (as weak as that is). Walking on 2 legs gives us lots of momentum and wastes less energy than say, hopping.

Uh....saying we're more efficient than hopping is something completely different than saying we're the most efficient form. I would imagine a dolphin travels much more efficiently then we do as well as large birds.

I'm not going to debate such complicated physics here, I don't know very much at all. However, if you think it's wrong your welcome to disproove it, I imagine you'd get a nobel prize.

On the one hand, the universe is a pretty inhospitable place for life. Earth supports life out of a series of lucky chances. We're out of the spiral arms of our galaxy, we have an unusual circular orbit, we're far enough away from the sun without being too far, our moon has reduced the rotational speed of the Earth from eight hours to twenty-four, reducing wind velocities that were once upwards of 500mph (which would be hard to support life in). We don't have climates that are too extreme for things to live in, good mixture of oxygen and nitrogen, planet's 75% water...so there's a lot of things that's like, "Earth's just reaaaally lucky, and most planets out there wouldn't have the same things going on."

That being said, the universe is a very, very large place and it's pretty inane to assume that there're no planets out there that could support life, carbon-based or otherwise. Maybe even 4th-dimensional life, which I've heard proposed before.

I also think the idea of panspermia (the theory that all life on Earth was seeded through bacteria carried by meteoroids) holds some weight to it, and I think it'd be likely that other life could've sprung up in this way throughout the universe.

When different universes fold, we'll be able to interconnect with beings of different universes almost instantaneously.

The universe is too big for there not to be more races and creatures out there.

Everyone knows that the humanoid form gets trumped by the Yith form.

As an aside, for the religious folk. Consider this - if God made the world in 7 days, what does he do with the rest of his time?

What any sculptor does. Make more crap.

IMO aliens exist on other galexys, not in ours, but in others. I dont think any of them visisted earth, i think they all LIES

I really don't like to think the aliens as 'Long n' tall, skinny w/ large eyes & huge heads' which the media always sees has. I like to think them as well type of combine sort of. It would be uber cool if we got invaded by aliens but scary. :D

Also I agree with the above posts ^_^ Aliens don't live in our galaxy; probably in another dimention, light years away from our galaxy.

Sure they exist in one form or another. It'd be statistically impossible for them not to exist. I think the distances between us and the nearest intelligent lifeforms out there is too great for us to see/hear them in a long time, though.

Unless they're already here. All it takes is a galaxy to develop a bit sooner than ours (a few billion years is the blink of an eye in astrological terms) and these alien dudes are seriously advanced and probably already paying us visits, making use of their space-folding technology.

Either way, they're out there.

Yes.

The universe is too damned big for just us to live, even though the chance of earth being able to inhabit life is very slim, the size of universe completly makes it possible to have many planets with living populations

it's been a little more than 10 years since we've been looking for extrasolar planets, and already we've catalogued at least 200 planets out there beyond our own solar system. Mind you, this is using indirect technology on telescopes not originally designed for planet-searching, so right now we've only got the capability to find the big gas giants.. (and this is not including the moons of those gas planets that we can't see) Wait until the Terrestrial Planet Finder, a new space telescope designed specificly to seek out planets the size of Earth....

Of course aliens exist, we're just so impossibly far away from each other that we'll never be able to communicate. Ever.

a simple question how can u say so much confidentially that aliens exist and Why we never be able to communicate? are u a Nasa guy or an Alien Hunter or this is just an obsession of Sci-fi.

Sure, they're probably other forms of life out there. To think we're unique is probably one of the bigger ego trips the human race has been on.

yes me too belive there are other forms of life, and to be unique we're unique coz no other races are discovered in space till now.

According to National Geographic Channel they are some organisation which are researching on Aliens for more than 20 yrs but still no results in Alien Hunting, but they do got success in others terms they have find out How a Planet having a vibrating sensation and lot more.

The universe is huge + the dimensions. With all this space there has to be other intelligent life forms out there; We are not the only ones in this large universe.

The universe isn't just huge. The universe is infinate, so that means that obviously if there is an infinate amount of space, then there is an infinate possibility that there are an infiniate number of other sentient races out in the universe... or something like that.

There IS life on other planets. I saw it in a movie once.

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!

The universe need not be infinite. A popular (and very sound, IMO) theory says it is a 4D sphere. Meaning it's extent is finite, but it has no edges.

That said, I believe we would have to be very unlucky not to find intelligent life elsewhere.

About the humanoid thing - We are humanoid not because we evolved on earth, but because we evolved from primates. Naturally, we are well adapted to life on earth, but many creatures are better adapted (physically). Also, if it were not for a statistical aberration millions of years ago, mammals would have died out. Crustaceans would have ruled the earth, and no doubt advanced as far as we have.

The voices in my head tell me aliens are bullshit.

Buuuuut then again, why not? Big place this universe. Lots of room, lots of oppurtunities for a budding infant lifeform to make their way into big, scary monsters of civilized living.

Lol, Aliens are all from MySpace.

No, I killed them off. With DDT.

i certainly don't doubt it. they're probably very near, just camoflauged

If there are aliens, they wouldn't waste their time with us.

Someone posted that image from space a few weeks ago, y'know, the one that was taken from like 1/10th of the "emptiest" part of space and magnified a million times or something...

Bound to be something out there, it's just too frickin' huge for us to ever comprehend.

I agree. When i lived in Dubai and did all the proper hardcore desert bashing in 4x4s (non of that pansy stuff that the guides do), we used to find bowls in the desert and camp in them. You walk away from the fire, stand/sit on a dune, look up and it is THE MOST BREATH-TAKING VIEW IN THE WORLD. You can see every star and constelation. You can even see the haze of galaxies. Its awe-inspiring. Its amazing what you can see away from the city and town lights. Its also the most peaceful place in the world, if you find a dune that blocks the talking from your mates/family, you sit in pure silence.

Made me think about life on other planets every night we were in the desert. We talked about it every night, as the view just puts it on everyone's mind.

The universe (in theory) is 'infinite', and i for one cant believe there are no other forms of life out there. We started out in whatever way you personally choose to believe, whether that be religious or scientific, and there simply MUST be life out there that started in the same way.

Hell, there could be other humans looking down at us with telescopes for all we know...

Personally i do not believe in them at this time as i have not seen them for myself, i do however believe it is possible that they exist somewhere in our universe, for the same reasons we exist.

Lol you have absolutely no understanding of maths or physics.

I can have a pattern of 1,2,1,2,1,2 It's infinately long, but will never contain a 3.
And big bang theory says the universe is finite.

However, considering the sheer size of the universe, and the sheer diversity of life on Earth, it'd be folly to believe it doesn't exist elsewhere.

There's millions upon millions of galaxys in our universe, we've only just explored 1% of our universe; there's just gotta be some form of intellegent life out there, we are not alone.

we've only just explored 1% of uour universe

I bet the limp-wristed-sandle-wearing old man that came up with that got a Nobel Prize for that comment...

If the Universe is in fact 'infinite', then how could we have explored a specific %???

As opposed to aliens from innerspace?

Anyway, I believe they exist.

The only aliens that exist are the Klingons from the planet Qo'noS of the Klingon Empire. They're pretty cool, but get pretty edgy when they haven't fought anybody in awhile.

seriously, aliens obviosly exist anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. Besides, who says life can only exist on a planet with earth-like conditions?

What if there are species who can live without oxygen? Or can live in extreme temperatures?

Also, you have to consider this: Think about SETI...we're sending out radio waves...now if we're trying to contact life in our own galaxy, chances are the species are more advanced than us because the majority of stars in our galaxy are older than the sun. Now that means the aliens are probably more advanced than us and consider RADIO WAVES AS QUAINT AS WE CONSIDER CONTACTING ALIENS WITH SMOKE SIGNALS.

What does that mean? Well they're obviously not looking for radio waves because they're way past that and that's why we're not getting any responses.

Actually, its pretty difficult to estimate the probability of it all.

Think about these two conditions:

1) The universe is so incredibly large and with so many stars, it is BOUND to have (or have had) a solar system or some form of planet that has suitable conditions for life. (This does not include the probability for each found suitable planet to actually have life on it)

2) The universe is so OLD, that our very existance is a mere blip in the span of time of billions of years.

Combine these two conditions and you get this:

The chances of life not only being nearby in our galaxy, but also existing at the same time as we exist within the billions of years of time is VERY slim.

Why do people say things like "if there where aliens in our galaxy they'd already be here". Aliens are not automatically more advanced than us and having perfected space travel is not a criteria for living outside of the Earth.

The Scrin are a coming!

I think its only by chance our humanoid shape was able to become the dominant species. If cephlapods didnt have such a short lifespan, maybe about 20yrs, I have little doubt they would be the ruling organism on this planet today...
