Do you believe these forums will improve after HL2 is released?

For the most part, I believe many of the posts here are quite inflamatory at the moment as the hype and anticipation are reaching peak levels, and that after HL2 is released, when the facts are right there in front of us, the benchmarks, the screenshots, the gameplay movies, there won't be so many threads that degenerate into utter chaos, post bashing, and name calling.

Of course if the game has any sort of serious issues which we were not aware of before the release, it could get sort of messy, where people aren't fighting amongst themselves, instead they would be targeting Valve directly (and forgetting that they are the ones who wanted it released on 9-30 or else).

So, just like the forums are now, it's up in the air.

I think it'll go quiet for a bit as everyone gets stuck into the game, then the crap will hit the fan again as people post up their praise/hatred for the game.
The we'll have those posting unmarked spoilers, marked spoilers and tech support requests.

As for the flaming/arguing, that should go away as we are arguing over a lack of information, as soon as the title hits our PC the news blackout will be gone.

It will get wourse. Forums always get worse when games come out because thats when a ton of new people start signing up to post like 1 thread on their problems, or how much they hated the game. Nostalgia!

People enjoy talking about games that arent out yet, but nobody is gunna need to talk about it once they all have it. Not only will everyones sex lives go through the floor, but the forum will be ignored by all the masses who have their copys. nobody will leave their bedroom or stop playing.

You should move the General Discussion to the bottom of the list and put the Complaints / Bugs at the top when HL2 is released.

Right now the tension is slowly rising, and because of that there's all these crappy posts and flames all over the place.
