Can't afford it, as it costs nearly 200-250 dollars just to get started.

I do however use my free weights and weight bench a lot. They're all in my room.
 
Magick! Now...do I go to the gym? Makes me laugh. I swim, there's my replacement. It's much more interesting.
 
I used to lift allot more.

Haven't done it in a month or so, but wrestling season's starting up so it's all good :)
 
I don't, just play sport once a week {+ training} so I get a bit unfit during the break between seasons... :( But then again i jog / walk around my area every now and again.

Well the gyms have a stupid enrollment and activation fee... So its like 100 dollars for enrollment fee... then like 100 dollars for activation fee. On top of that they usually have a 20 dollar or so processing fee.

THEN they require you to pay first and last month before you can use the equipment. It really sucks. I can't afford that. I'd rather be on a long contract than pay stupid enrollment/activation/processing fees. That's how they get their money... most people join, pay that outrageous amount of money, then stop in a month or two, not getting their money's worth.

Gyms are a waste of money imo.

If you can find a friend (and i'm sure you know somebody) with weights, then you're set to go.

Lift with your friend (who will be more willing to help you get started than a gym trainer)

Run around your neighborhood, or use the track at your local highschool (treadmills are too boring imo)

Squat jumps, pushups, sit ups, and other body weight related exercises at home (when you feel like it that is :p)

And you're set.
 
I've got a couple of wieghts here and thats the only equipment I ever will need to do anything effective with my body.
 
I agree 100% with this. Mainly because even the gyms around here that are supposed to be geared toward really working out are just meat markets (and I'm talking about the Powerhouse, Golds, etc. Don't even get me started on the "athletic clubs"). Sorry I have no desire to work around the roid freak that can't pull himself away from the mirror. Or the group of guys that sit there and take up the lateral benches, just to talk and hang out. Or the women that look like they spent more time getting ready (make up and whatnot) to come workout than they do for work or socializing. Not to mention the last time me and a couple friends went, there was about 8 guys in the locker room that were headed to the steam room to play "hide the salami", yeah no thanks.

I have all the weights and equipment I need and I either workout alone or at times when I need to have a partner, least it will be someone I know wants to workout just as much.

The people that also get to me are the ones that buy every piece of workout equipment they can and most of it being things you could easily do for free, ie. ride a bike outside instead of a stationary bike, a trendmill when you could enjoy the outdoors and go walking, hiking, running. All so they can "watch tv" while they work out.:rolleyes:

there's a gym thing for people where i live that's really cheap, but i don't go there. i just work out at home and run around outside. maybe i'll get into the gym if i can get a ****ing hold of the person who handles it, have no number or anything.
 
I just started to go again after about 2 years off just so that I can impress my friends with my physique. I feel kind of like a tool for doing it though. I mean, I have no real need to be able to bench press large amounts of weight or chin myself 20 times. I've never been in a fight and my job isn't physically demanding. The only point for me to workout is to appease my vanity... and look at chicks in spandex

What if your first month is your last month? Do you still have to pay for it twice?
 
I could go to the college gym for free, but if I was going to work out I'd rather not do it in a gym, I'd do it outside or some other way.
 
No, and it just occured to me that with how much food I eat I should be incredibly fat.
 
I'm down the gym or do something every day

Sunday - Chest & Triceps. Abs and Cardio in the morning with a nice swim, but i might switch that for some sparring.
Monday - Biceps & Legs with a 90minute Muay Thai session in the evening
Tuesday - 2 hours of Jeet Kune Do
Wednesday - Back and Shoulders
Thursday - 2 hours of Muay Thai
Friday - day off at the minute but considering doing Muay Thai on a Friday as well with a few mates.
Saturday - swim and a bit of cardio after work.
 
No, I don't go to the gym. But I have a set-up in my basement (bench, dumbbells and stationary bicycle) with which I work up every morning.

Sunday - Day off
Monday - Either upper body musculature work out or lower body musculature
Tuesday - Cardio (running or bicycle)
Wednesday - Either upper body musculature work out or lower body musculature (different from Monday though)
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Same as Monday
Saturday - Cardio (long run)
 
Where is the 'I used to but don't any more' option?
 
I don't go to a gym and never will. My dad has a bench and some weights and I use them constantly. And when I have a place of my own, I'm getting his set cause he'll be too damn old or I'll buy my own. Gyms are way too expensive.

As for the exercising, I don't have a specific day schedule, but I try to lift 3-4 times a week (nothing bodybuilder-like but to get cut), and cardio at least 4. In the dead of summer it's just too damn hot to run constantly out there so I treadmill it but I do like to bike and walk outside.
 
I used to when I lived by one. I goto the school gym but it lacks everything but the bare basics. Since I've started my new job, I've began to waste away :(
I'm going today.
 
Yeah, I go to the gym, probably around three times a week.

Started to work out about three months ago, have to say that I really have noticed a bit of progress. Increased about 30kg in benchpress, so I press 120kg now. Not much, I admit, but I haven't worked out for too long either:/
 
I have some weights at home and make sure I stay fit. I don't think I would ever go to a Gym unless I started to get fat or unhealthy.
