Ok a good question this time :p

AFAIK just about everyone on here uses atleast one of the more popular chatting programs. But which do you prefer, and why do you prefer it, have you used the others and if so why don't you use them or not like them.

Trillian.

Because it's the most efficient and compact chat program that I know of. I can use it to talk with anybody no matter what other chat progam they use. It also has no ads, like AIM or MSN do.

IRC is a protocol, not a chat program :)

but anyway....

MSN mostly, and a bit of IRC for staff stuff

I use yahoo and aim a lot...I can't choose between the two. :(

MSN 0wns it all:D

I prefer mIRC as a chat program but ofcourse its not used by the mainstream kids, so MSN is it. I've used the others but because nobody uses them or you have to pay for a more decent version; i didnt like them as much.

I cant stand the MSN pictures and rubbish they are adding into it, like the stupid smilies and make your own ones. it should just be a plain old messenger, long live Windows Messenger.

Only thing MSN has going for it is webcam's.. which the others have I guess too.. apart from IRC (which is a protocol not a chat program.. apparantly :p)

I would pick MSN because all my friends are on it and I have never used teh other ones anyway

What is with all these threads Dark Elf, afraid you will get demoted like Spud =P?

making threads doesn't come under mod related stuff, neither does making posts or reading them.. I could make thousands of threads and still get demoted for not moderating.

I'm just making them as random as I can to inject some life into this section, keep things going for the next few days until HL2 is finally released. Only a little while to go now.

I think he is going for 10,000 posts and then he'll leave, probably wants nothing more to do with us so wants to be rid of us quickly :(

I stick to ICQ. MSN is filled with 14-year-old chicks with no brains :D While some can be pretty hot, you'd go crazy talking to them. And it's too mainstream :E While IRC is too Underground for me ;) ICQ is in between. Never tried Yahoo& AIM. Are they for Americans only or something?

Nope...they are worldwide.

Use both MSN and ICQ, but I prefer MSN.

I use MSN because it generally seems to be the easiest to use and because my friends have it.
I have used AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC and Trillian, but I find MSN to be the most convenient.
There was one point when I was using MSN, AOL, Yahoo and ICQ all at the same time, but I only had about 1 contact on each apart from MSN, then the Dark Elf uninstalled ICQ and I couldn't be bothered with all the programs anymore, so I just use MSN and occasionally IRC.

Agreed, Trillians development is going stale, I couldn't even get fonts to work! (I was locked in Times New Roman :()

lol! I remember when I had them all going at once.. My god was it confusing hahaha.. I found myself just using chat programs and never getting any work done, it had to be sorted and ICQ was the last to finally go.

Actually.. I'll just point out to those people who added me on MSN.. its nothing personal that I block/remove from contact lists, I do it to everyone unless thats the person I'm directly talking to, I hate being interupted and the constant bleeping on MSN is annoying as hell. (no i can't turn the sound off, I need that on)

So its nothing personal, course the fact your not on my special MSN list in another account.. thats cause I just plain don't like you enough :p j/k ;)

None! I hate them all. Poorly written, resource grabbing, worthless programs. I used to use AIM, but AOL conviently somehow locked me out of my account for no reason at all.

Getting a new accounting from AIM or MSN is painful. Names like "lasdufaosdjfosaiujlaesifjawoij012890329850985" is already taken, please choose another name. So I've given up on IM programs. On occasion I will use IRC though.

I do miss our ICQ conversations, where I would complain about college and you would tell me it's a waste of time, also our constant planning of "ACC" was fun, even if it never did amount to anything.
And I remember talking to you in IRC but all we ever did was argue, no idea why.

Us argue? :p

Oh yeah.. probably cause I just wanted to be left alone while I was working and people kept pestering me hehe :p

I like MSN and yahoo the most. You can actually send messages to offline people with yahoo.

I use Msn and yahoo.

I'll get on AIM on occasion, but only if I'm looking for someone. I have like 300 odd contacts on aim and can't be arsed to clean it out, so I just stay away from it.

Pffft I added you to msn elf, but you just deleted me before i could even say hi anyway

hehe I do to everyone, like I say, nothing personal, I'd put everyone back on except I can't talk to everyone at once, gets very confusing for me lol

I use MSN Messenger. Sometimes I use IRC but not very much. As soon as I log on I'm on MSN Messenger. Add me if you want, [email protected]

MSN

and

According to my own free will, I FarrowLeSparrow, fully endorse the IRC program. I enjoy using it and I stay on it as long as is humanly possible. :|

i used to use ICQ/IRC alot.. but now i rarely do since most of my friends now use MSN or IRC.. so even tho i don't like MSN.. i have to use it if i want to keep in touch with them.
