Great news for all the Day of Defeat fans, a French DoD site recently released several DoD:S videos of actual gameplay. Head on over and check them out here.[br]

UPDATE: For those that can't speak French, the page can be found in English here.

Thanks goes to Wisoo for the hot tip.

I Wanna Play!!!!

I wish the videos had some sound though. :(

nevermind - some do have sound!!!

I don't understand. Parts look sooooooooooooooooooooooooo great like the map quality is great but the guns and the hands are bad, as well as the models.

Anglophones: just look at the part where it says ``ICI et ICI'' (``HERE and HERE''). Right-click and save link for each ``ICI''. This is under the header of ``Premières vidéos de DoD : S'' (``First Dod:S Videos'').

Everything looks like crap to me... crap as in "this is the old DoD crap."

In terms of graphics it looks good...not that great...but good.

I'm still gonna play it tho....they might release a High Def pack/patch later on?Who knows...

and they expect people to pay for that.....

Yeah I really think they should wait to release this till they have at least new character/gun models finished, I know I havnt played it yet but, it just doesnt do it for me yet and I LuV DoD its my favorite mod. :|

Well, considering they aren't official releases, I guess we can't judge on the final product. But it sure as hell better be a hole lot fancier looking than this. It seems to me the buildings look oddly cartoonish. I half expect elves to be popping out of the windows.

I think the flash video used the physics engine best.
As a matter of fact, I think all houses should have windows to blow out.

OMG U CAN LIEK TOTALY SHOOT SIGNS OFF TEH SIGNPOTS!!!!!

This thing should be free.

the official public release will have new models, don't worry. those are temps so they can let people play test. You really think they would spend THAT much time on the enviros and leave the characters looking so crap-tacular?

Did you hear how there are multiple instances of each voice command? like "Sniper!" was said 2-3 different ways by the same character...soooo cool.

Can't wait.

also, is this a legal release (the videos) because it seems to me that 2 days ago there was basically a "nobody is allowed to release anything" rule being enforced...and now all the sudden this french website is hosting not just screenies, but VIDS?

i bet this isn't up tomorrow morning when i arise.

are u fo shizzle? I hope so :borg:

ffs this looks bad... i mean a normal modding team could have made it better thay have to make some new things, not just make new maps and characters, and the physics is not mutch of use ingame anyway, AND WHO THE HELL WOULD PAY FOR THAT!... i mean the last game looked good compared to half-life but now if you compare it to hl2 it looks crap even though the models and stuff will be new they really should bring us something new or something to do with the graphicks.. (sorry for my spelling)...

hands are exacltly the same... probably because it's beta.. ya think?!

I thought under the non-disclosure agreement they were allowed to talk about the gameplay and everything, but no pictures and obviously no vids? Has that changed recently?

Anyway, haven't seen the vids yet, but from what I read above it doesn't sound good...I aint paying for it, I'll think I'll download the original :)

Looks/sounds pretty good to me. I dunno what people are complaining about, if they think random mod teams are gonna do better... heh riight.

It might be just me, but does anyone else think the game looked like it was going to fast?

Dark Elf... I think mod teams can achieve high standards. Look at INS, HL:R, BG:S, etc. Also, did you know that the teams that created DoD and Counter-Strike were once "random mod teams" ?

You're making it sound like only the DoD team can make such a game.

Also, did you know that the teams that created DoD and Counter-Strike were once "random mod teams" ?

Although that's a good point, it's worth pointing out that they weren't that good when they first came out... or for quite a while after. But they had that 'something'.

I think that, at the time, they were doing pretty good. That's why many played the betas so early on. However, that's a different story. With the Source engine, showing something like that to the "non-fanboi" general public would be a bad idea. If you played HL2, in all its beauty, would you really want to play a game that is not up to par with HL2's graphics... especially if it's on the same engine.

People go for looks MOST of the time before they try something. Would you buy a bannana bus just because it has TV screens in the back seats and a "billion-faffilion horsepower" under the hood? No. I'm one of those people. Call me names, but that's how I am.

I think this was a bad mistake that, outside of the DoD.com forums, gave DoD:S a negative image.

If you eat cookies before they are cooked they still taste ok, but then you puke and sh*t your face off all night because of some raw eggs.

Checking out DoD: Source before it's done shows off some good stuff, but then you puke your face off because of some raw models.

Let's all have a little faith, and more importantly patience. Feel free to judge the final product, but ripping apart the beta images is foolish and petty.

looks nice, great sound and source seems to suit it a lot better than it does with cs (the slower game play style).

The rubble is still very 1 dimensional though, like a wallpaper has been plastered on top, it's a shame that no bump mapping was done for this or some kind of clever debris system.

THEY'VE SAID THAT DoD SOURCE IS GOING TO BE A STRAIGHT PORT TO BEGIN WITH FFS!!!!!RTFF (read the ****ing forum)

DOD forum read it

raw eggs only make you sick if they were contaminated. You know that stuff on cream pies? that's raw egg.

Merangue? that is just egg whites and they are cooked slightly. That's true, but I assume you get my point.
