Counter-Strike's ok, I'd much rather play HL2 though... I hope HL2 has more unique mulitplayer options, instead of the repackaged games on the source engine. (I understand how popular CS is, but i'm just looking to branch out.)

Well, I love Counter Strike, but I hate playing online. Does that count? Too many immature smacktards running their scripted hacks. Bots are not as fun to play against, but infinitely more fun to play with in my opinion.

Oh I know what you mean Beast... at school last semester there was a student-run server that people would LAN on. At the end, there was about 10 cheaters (1337 pwnx0rage Hax0r attax0rs wh0 th0ugh7 tehy w3r3 w00t). They ended up ruining it for everybody. Haha, smacktards is right.

I usually hunt for servers that are heavily admined and have a community base. Usually those keep pretty smacktard free, and what talk does go on, it's mostly light hearted humor.

cs source is gonna be the key to hl2's success , coz ull beat hl2 in 25 hours , maybe play it again , but cs:s will remain for a long long long time , plus cs:s is looking absolutly amazing!

For CS, I usually play on private servers, sure, I get pwned a lot, but still, keeps the OMG I CAN HACK SO I MUST BE 1337! kids outta the server =]

I don't think CS source will have a good following because -CS2- and CS 1.6 will leach all the people up. *is captian obvious today* :stare:

cs:s looks alright ... i think it might look better but i think it looks just OK

I was interested in Counter-Strike: Source only to get a taste of the source engine on my computer.
But CS and Condition Zero are pretty pointless games.

whys your sig so big treddy :|

and I enjoy CS, everyone and their mother seems to be hacking on half the sevrers I join nowadays. no worries, TFC with letters is equally fun or more.

Just talk to most of the Halo community. They hate everything except Halo. Kind of like the HL2 community except we're better.

Just speaking in general here, don't get offended.

1.6 is too ugly, so why not play a much better looking version of the same thing? CS2 is way too far off mate. I think CS:S will take over 1.6, much like steam took over WON, there will be a few playing 1.6, but not a substantial amount compared to CS:S.

I think it'll have a gigantic following since it's free with HL2. CS2 (if it even exists) is a good 1-2 years from being released and it'll be standalone when it is.

well, you cant be sure about that, the reason to the first Counter Strikes huge success is the fact that a large majority of the people playing it have computers that arent vary good and play this because it is a good game for the low system reqs...

thats not the reason the 'large majority' plays at all, thats generally the excuse bitchy people give for their sucking. theres tons of other HL mods out there, other games entirely, like diablo 2 etc, you got quake 2, tribes 2 with not much higher reqs, unreal tournament, etc.

There will still be 1.6/CZ players on Steam for quite some time after HL2 comes out. I expect it to be 50/50 by the end of the year, and the laggards will slowly convert to CS:S or switch to a new game.

dude, no need to act bitchy

1.6 just feels like luck alot of the time, i play it but i always get fustrated even when im not getting pwned. CS:S hopefully will be more fun but there are so many games that are comming out they all look sooooo good. (Ive never really played any online pc games other then the halflife mods and RTCW because my computer sucks. But im buying a new one in like 2 days so im happy with what the future will have in store for me :))

I used to like counter-strike but i just got bored of it. Mind you i get bored of most multiplayer shooters (apart from BattleField), all you can do is shoot and be shot. When an online shooter comes out with good co-op and a good story to back it up, then i'll get interested again.

I recently tried playing CS again after not having played it for 2 years, I lasted about 3 minutes before quiting.
Good cooperation between players makes online play interesting, when you try to organise a plan of attack there are always little twerps who just go off on their own and never cooperate or even want to work as a team.
That's why I only like LANs.

I played CS long, long ago. I quit when v1.0 came out, thats when the retards really came out in numbers (surprising how many retails buyers had never heard of Half Life). I can no longer stand CS (the game itself aswell as the idiots that populate the servers) but I am still looking forward to CS:S, just to play on Source.

Amen brother.

I started playing CS again a couple months ago after finding out that CS:Source was being made. It's so much fun. Sure, there are a lot of assholes who think they can talk shit all game because they're good, but there are also tons of cool people too.

Can't wait for CS:Source. :)

I enjoy playing CS 1.6... I mostly scrim, but sometimes I pub with my clan on servers with dumb admins/players who think we all hack and try to get us banned. It usually proves to be fairly entertaining.

I can't wait for CS:S; it sounds wonderful from everything I've read.

I'm with ya man. I've NEVER had seen what the big deal is with CS. I'm just not into super-realistic multiplayer games I guess. UT2004 is more my speed.

CS isnt realistic :p
Lucky me. I havent seen or been to a server w/a hacker since cz came out.

from the looks that people like CS:S i mean look how many " THREADS & POSTS " on CS:S ;D thats how much people like CS:S =p

God its like a KKK meeting here- seems you're ready to head off and lynch someone! lighten up guys- CS rules, it's not full of cheats, it's just full of whiners who can't play properly and run around calling everyone who shoots them a cheatin $*!#, but agreed there are too many people playin who either
a) have an IQ lower than there age, or
b) are 12 and can't really be blamed for being retarded and immature.

do what I do and shoot both types...

And for all you CS sucks but I'm gonna love CS:S people- you can join catergory a).... its practically the same game with better graphics if you dont like CS chances are CS:S won't be your cup of tea either.

/rant over

CS sucked, most of the time.
But I guess CS:S might be a better game...

Well I like cs:s, but if I had to chose between only Half-life 2 or cs:s, I would go for HL2 all the way..

But I'm glad we have them both, because cs:s is cool also :)

It's realistic in the sense you can't get shot a hundred times or fall from 50 feet and live. After you die you don't automatically respawn. It uses real world weapons and locations and doesn't have crazy powerups.

So it's realistic in that sense. I guess the "less" realistic UT/Quake games are just more my cup of tea.

The only thing CS needs is a "death cam" like CoD. If it had this it would be unassailable :p

Not a fan of CS. More interested in CS:S to see the source engine in action than anything else.
