does steam not accept dod retail keys?

ive lost all my other HL CDs, execpt one but no case so no cd key.

I believe Steam only accepts Half-life and Counter-Strike CD-Keys. Steam should locate your CD-Key for either of those games if you still have them installed on your computer. Unless you work out something with Valve, sorry man, it looks like your stuck.

Until you buy Half-Life 2 of course.

Yes it does cause i am using mine, I have my HL cdkey from 1998 also that im not using though, kinda nastalgia though cause my ID is like 03956

Well, there you have it. I guess some versions of Steam accept CD-Keys other than Half-Life and Counter-Strike.:|

dont use "-" or anything like that

ive tried everything, all lower case, all caps, no spaces, spaces, -s, its not taking it.
someone said it will only activate DOD but it doesnt work for that.
