ok i just got the gravity gun.....now question is what does everyone do mostly with the gravity gun?

Pick up objects, throw them at enemies. Pick up objects to clear the way. Use the primary fire to flip your buggy (when you get it) back over. It has many uses. Quick switch to the gravity gun by pressing G.

Getting ammo quicker, making blockcades...

Stacking up stuff trying to be clever and bumping your head on the playerclips.

*rubs hands in anticipation*
The buzzsaw blades are a deadly Spin on things specially when you encouter the zombies, try it in a fast zombie

I remember in this one section in Highway 17, where you go into a house, and once you go upstair a combine squad attacks, I heard the attack comming while I was upstairs, so I took everything I could find and I blocked the stairwell. Then I hurled a grenade downstairs, which scattered a few soldiers, then took my crowbar and jumped out the window. Went to the backdoor, threw a grenade in, and killed the bastards from behind.

If you want to have lots of fun with the gravity gun, you need to be creative with it. Don't just stick with the obvious Pickstuf up and throw it. You have to use your thinking cap! Like using the rounded shape of the barrels to your advantage when in a fight with a swarm of manhacks. Pick it up and use the edges to throw the manhacks off ballance, then hurl it into the pack to dissorient them, and then blow them to bits with a grenade.

The game is ALLOT more fun if you WANT to have fun.

Oh, yes, the GG is a load of fun! Even playing Fetch with Dog when you first get it is fun.

Go on a killing spree in Ravenholm, after that store for emergencies.

Frankly I found playing catch with Dog to be one of the stupidest, lamest things in the game that I desperately wanted to skip.

After 2 throws it was a complete waste of time - it's not exactly hard to use the GG.

That wasn't really the point. :/ I guess younger gamers who haven't played Half-Life can't appriciate things like that. Not saying you are young or haven't played Half-Life, but you should be playing the game to have fun, and appriciate little things like that.

I thought that part was cute. Kinda like a small mini-game.

Killing EVERY indoor guard in the City 17 levels. Especially if you come across one of those Indestructable Armoirs of Doom.

"Save Ammo! Chuck An Armoir!"

Killing people with paint cans. Am I the only one who also carried the harpoon from sandtraps all the way through nova prospekt? lol

Well I've played and finished Half-Life 7 times, so I'm not young nor a newbie.

And yes, I was playing it to have fun, and I found the part with dog distinctly non-fun, and therefore I thought it was a waste of time that I desparately wanted to skip.

When throwing the ball with dog, you can shoot the ball through the basketball hoop to get a little suprise. It takes a while though.

There are so many things you can do with the grav gun it pisses me off.

nope. I carried it right up to the teleporter. :E

i found it really fun doing aerial target practice with dog, shooting down the boxes he sends with other boxes. evry time i tried to get the ball thru the hoop i would end up getting it stuck behing the back board, that made it quite boring after that.

harpoon????!!!!:rolling: :rolling:   where??

painting people is fun too, use barrels + stuff as a shield (not explosive obviously)

I have just started playing Doom3 and after HL2, I find that the Doom3 environment is so much less interactive than HL2. We may have reached the point in time when any game without some form of grav gun no longer cuts the mustard.

Yeah, I'm glad I played Doom 3 before HL2 and not the other way around.

Coming back to play the Doom 3 expansion was kind of interesting; I found a lot of things paled in comparison to HL2. Interestingly I found the cinematics confusing and irritating the second time through - why couldn't I walk around and do what I wanted while the characters talked at me, like in HL2? Whereas the first time I played Doom 3 I didn't mind them at all.

/me tries cutting mustard with a HL2 disc
Eh, doesn't do it for me. But you're right anyway. Either you're going to have some futuristic means to manipulate the physics-abled objects around you, or you're just going to spend tons of extra time walking against or shooting stuff to make them fall down, move to where you want them, etc. like I found myself doing in FarCry. Anyone else do that thing with the chair in the door near the final battle in that game?

With the super grav gun, I kept throwing computer consoles at people. For some reason that pleased me more than throwing people at people.

I guess I'm too much of a cyberpunk.

I loved trying to sort-of 'surf' on the computer screens in the Citadel. It's just so much fun...

I use it mostly for launching objects as weapons. but I also have a lot of fun tweaking its settings through console commands that makes it a whole lot more interesting, like being able to throw car frames a thousand yards :D I just wish we could get the super grav gun at the start of the game without having to do a run-around that causes all the other weapons to disintegrate enemies as well. like just have a damn code or console setting to switch it back and forth from orage to blue.
