I just picked up the game 3 days ago, cause I've been a fan of nascar for a while. I was reluctant to pick it up at first because of all of the complaints I've seen about it. I don't know if all of them were based on the game pre-patch but I'm absolutely loving this. Especially online!

The graphics are superb pumped up to full with a little AA and AF. Turn the head movement to %100, and you will FEEL every bump on the track, not to mention shifting and collisions with other cars.

Tuning the cars set-up is a blast once you get used to it. so many little adjustments to make that effect the behaviour of your car drasticly.

The feel of the cars provides a bit of a challenge, but it just feels so right. I've been watching a lot of NASCAR in Car lately on my satellite, and the behaviour of the cars seems spot on.

Now as for online, this is the part I've heard had so many problems with lag and what not. so I wasn't expecting much when I logged on to play on a server. But It's really great and now I play exclusively online, even just to practice. There really isn't much lag on my end. you get the odd guy with a high ping who warps a bit, but it's nothing crazy like i heard from the reviews.

You can just hop on a server with like 30 people, and usually it's in a practice session. so you just rip around the track and race for the best time, playing with your set-ups as you go. When everyone is rdy, a vote starts and the real fun begins as the server is locked down for a race. You qualify, hope you do well and then you're ready to go.

I've done 4 nearly full sized races at 10% length online with like 30 people, it doesn't get much better. A good chunk of the people made it to the end and you get some real tight races going on for certain positions. After I crashed out in my first race, I found myself just sitting back and enjoying the rest of the race through the spectator mode. It was almost as good as TV. ;)

anyways, all I'm saying is that if you're into racing games, give this one another chance. It ain't half bad.

here's a couple shots from just now.

I love racing sims, and I liked the demo of this game, but at the end of the day you're just going around in an oval.

I like Live for Speed more. They have a demo of S2 that you can play online and has car damage + pretty kick-ass graphics.

I know that's what it looks like to some people. but there is way more to nascar than 'just going around in an oval'.

yeah setting up the car in NASCAR is like playing some role playing game with tons of options everywhere

I tried NASCAR 2002, I had bought a steering wheel for it ... but it's just too realistic and it's hard to play against the PC's cars when you have to spend hundreds of laps finding a good balance between your front and rear brakes.

Exactly. I love this game. I love NASCAR. I hate it when people say it's just "going around in an oval." That's like saying FPS's are just "shooting people."

That's not want racing sims are all about. If you want that, go play Burnout 3. Racing sims are about truly having a good time by racing, not crashing.

Actually it would be more like saying Time Crisis was just shooting people.

And plus, other sims have all the engine/steering/tire/suspension management too.

I remember playin the original NasCar and Indycar racing. It was halarious, especially when you deliberately cause a 30 car pile up after the first lap and record it. Watch it from different camera angles.
Play, Rewind, Play, Rewind, Play

Don't hate nascar games. What else are rednecks supposed to play other then the hunting games that mysterious make their way into the bargain bin shortly after launch?

Go die.

welp, I'm a big nascar fan and i can assure you that my neck is not red. stereotypes are great!

I like auto racing, but Nascar just doesn't do it for me. I've got a friend who is a nascar fanatic, but all I see from nascar is 5 hours of left turning on an oval track. I'm more into Formula 1 and Formula D/D1 racing as well as GT racing.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (the original) is one of my all time fave racing games
