Lt. Drebin said:The more Doom news the better.
Lt. Drebin said:Until the last year and a half, I don't know how many times Id has come out and said they're not going to let anyone damage the image of the franchise or make a poor movie. Obviously this has been saif many times by many companies with marketable ip,but look at the timeline here....the original has been out for over a decade. Before you guys crap all over the movie because they've changed a few elements, why don't you see it. But no, per usual, the flock comes out to flame this movie. If the creators of the game are satisfied that should be enough to at least settle some nerves....Christ, they've delayed production on their own countless times to hammer out certain issues....script, cast, etc. Reserve judgement....you may be pissed that it's not Hell taking over Mars or there's too many people in the movie....those elements alone are not going to dictate whether or not Doom ends up being a great film.
Absinthe said:Id's previous handling of films does not mean this will be a good one. For all we know, previous endeavors may have been absolutely abysmal. And I, fortunately enough, tend to know what movies I will and won't like.
If history's a factor in this, then by all means, the movie will be horrible considering how most video game -> movie conversions work out.
Now, this is not to say I won't give the film a shot. I'll see it because it's Doom and that's interesting enough to me. I might be able to forgive its alterations, as I have been proven wrong before. But I am not being unreasonable when I'm annoyed with the disrespect shown to source material. Wether it was because of legal problems, an attempt to gain a larger audience, or sheer ignorance, the outcome is the same, and that's what matters.
And on that note, it's pub time.
