Do you remember that good old times Quake II vs. Unreal? This time the race didn't even start yet but the fans are already runnin'!

Lol...yeah. That's also reminded me of the very nicely worded quote on the HL1 cd cover:

Quake 2 was fun, but its single player wasn't all that. Half Life is several levels better than Q2.

Yes every now and then people appear who say "I've never finished Half-Life 1" or " I found tetris <insert name of other game here> was more fun than Half-Life"

It's weird and bizarre, i agree. Most of the time they're just trying to be different. Sometimes they're serious and we must all crouch in the corner of a room in fetal position , rocking back and fourth in fear and confusion.

Not just me then....phew. Half life was in a completely different league from Quake II and Unreal IMO. But I prefered Unreal to Quake II.....so I guess that may make me different.

Why does everyone care if Doom 3 is out before HL2? People are going to act like they are going to boycot HL2 if Doom 3 comes out first. I want HL2 and Doom 3 equally, but I don't care which is released first. I just care that it gets released some damn time soon!

No it's not Believe it or not but Doom3 is going to have a story, written by a professional writer - just like Half-Life. D3 and HL2 are going to be great games

does it matter if Doom3 is released before HL2 or not?

i mean it seems like the minds are set (particularly on this site), either ur going to buy the game or not.. and those that are too young to remember Doom's 1+2 will just wait for reviews and demos..

its hard to find pple share the experience of playing Doom1 and 2 and the excitement of seeing Doom3 come out unless u go to a Doom3 forum...

Doom3 will still be a fairly successful game despite it being mainly just a SP game.. me thinks

doom 3 will have great multiplayer. id is just focusing on the single player, because doom is a scare factor game, your more scared when your by yourself. at 2003 quakecon doom3-MP got high praises from everybody who went.

hl2 seems more focused on single player also, doesnt mean the multiplayer wont be great.

i read that article...and while i know iD can deliver on good MP's
my concern is that a MP 4 player limit will not be popular with the general gaming crowd which relies on MP.

its not a question for those of us who enjoy engaging SP's...
i know when i play CS, im usually with 6-7 friends/pple i know.. with Doom3 that won't be possible :|

i discussed this a long time ago, ill try to find you a link. but the 4 man gaming was just set at default at quakecon 2003. d3 can do more than 4 man multiplayer.
