The graphics of doom3 are way further sophesticated as in hl2.
the lighting effects are stunning , try running doom3 and 1600x1200 at ultra settings with everything on high. using Nvidia's new SLI technologies.

Halflife2 graphics dont cope with Doom3's its too bad Doom3 has a bad gameplay , storyline.

if someone could rebuild Hl2 on the Doom3 engine it would be perfect. perhaps they need to combine some outdoor scenery since that isnt Doom3's strongest point. i mean hey come on. the only parts that made me scare was the part that a zombie suddenly spawned out of the water.

what about the fast zombies, better lighting effects would certainly increase the ''scary'' factor.
concluding a game is a good game when it's nearly too scary to play it.

troll.... And no ffs Half-Life 2 could not be done (easily) on the D3 engine.. however dark close corridors work perfectly in it! So much of Half-Life 2 is outdoors, and besides having outdoor enviorments not be the strong suit of an engine is kind-of a bummer considering most of hl2 is outdoors. (actually alot of games are hmm.. maybe they should have made it better at outdoor things...)

i totally agree with you , except the part youre calling me a troll:p
but indeed , someone should build nova prospekt or some indoor parts of ravenholm on the Doom3 engine.

because my hopes are on the Doom3 expansion actually.

Maybe because you're an idiot, if you really think you could make levels identical to HL2's in Doom3 and get anything even close to the framrate HL2 achieves you are smoking something I havnt even heard of.

I'm not angry. I don't really care about it at all. However, I'm a nice person, so I figure I'd do my bit for the world in general and the people around you, and remind you that you're an idiot. Go away.

framerates are irrelevant, buy yourself a good computer.
Nvidia 6800Ultra SLI technology ( dual 6800ultra's )
and you own the framerates

doom3 is set on a maximum framerate of 60FPS.
but 60FPS is perfect to play on.

Stop trolling, pretty clear you're looking for a fight.

And I don't think HL2 is ment to be just scary, like Doom 3 was supposed to be.

Go get someone to do a full recreation of Highway 17 or Sandtrap outdoor maps, or even the Follow Freeman level in which you fight the striders in the courtyard, with the Doom 3 engine. Show me you getting 60+ fps, its not going to happen.

Let's see...

Wrong forum.

Have you played the game since there are fast zombies. And to think about the scary aspect of HL2 vs. Doom3, then HL2 will loose in general look. Doom series itself is all about demond and freakish sons of bitches and scary stuff.

HL2 is action with better story and characters and it does offer a good scary part in the story and doesn't work with "pick up a item you need and get 'suprisingly' attacked by some bloody monster from darkness every ten minutes" kind of thing.

has to be one of the silliest post ever...

the difference , if you have to label one, is the comparison from a real world set up,, half lifes scenes are atleast 20 times closer to real life lighting and texturing than Doom III, Doom III was over exagerated to encaptulate the mood of being scared... in a way, thats all it ever tried to do...

source lighting allows for a wider contrast of realistically lit scenario's, dark and light... which allows for a wider variety of feeling for the enviroments, making the game overally more varied in appearance.

and you cant diss the exploitation of the physics system, thats just brilliant. in comparison to Doom III's mild apparencey of physics..

but both games where staying true to themselves, using different techniques, that are totally cool.

SLI technology isin't even out yet, much less mainstream and yes framrates matter
a. not everyone has gods computer
b. SLI isin't even really known yet, much less in gamers hands

frame-rates are irrelavent? you are talking out your ass! you cant play a game with 5 fps.
