In a quick word with Gabe Newell at the VGAs on Friday, Kotaku revealed that Valve have been working on getting Dota 2 running on tablets but haven't been particularly successful.

Gabe said "We were working on getting Dota 2 running on some tablets. That ended up being kind of a disappointment. But the good news is that tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we'll get the kind of performance we want and other game developers want in the near future."

Always good to see Valve venturing into new areas of the market, although I'm somewhat skeptical how playable Dota 2 would be on a touch device. As a viewing client (as seen during The International 2) however, I would be very interested rather than having to use twitch.

As a spectator, cool.

As a playing device? They must be joking.

Since it was never stated that it would just be the spectator client, I think jumping the gun and saying they were trying to get it playable is just stupid. Valve aren't dumb, they wouldn't even bother attempting that without some kind of....hardware...add-on...

I also like how Kotaku said it would be easy to play Dota 2 on a tablet since it isn't "demanding on your fingers". Has anyone at Kotaku ever played a match of Dota 2?

Tap on enemies to attack, tap on items or abilities to use them! Simple!
