Dr. Phil's

The real reason Dr Phil didn't want to talk to him was because the guy dressed up like him, haha.

God what a hypocrite. He states that he won't publicize such despicable material, yet there he is inviting the creator onto his show and showing videos of bum fights in action!

Publicity stunt for both parties involved me thinks.

What's the point of inviting that man to the Dr. Phil show just to have him kicked out before he gets a chance to present his case? To make Dr. Phil look like this figure of moral authority he thinks he is, maybe?

You know what? We might not agree with what this guy is doing, but he IS doing a service to homeless people. He is giving them jobs. Granted though, he is an idiot for going to the Dr. Phil show in the first place. Or maybe not. He has made millions of dollars on this venture. Last time I checked, idiots did not make that much money.

I have limited internetz on my computer. What happens in the video?

Before introducing his guest, Dr. Phil showed some videos from "BumFights.com." Halfway through the video, Dr. Phil asked to have the video stopped. Cut back to the studio; you see Dr. Phil's guest, the producer of the bum fights, sitting on a chair ready to begin the interview. But instead of interviewing him, Dr. Phil called security, before the guest even got a chance to make a case, and asked security to escort the guest out of the studio. Just before the man was led out of the studio, he got a chance to tell Dr. Phil that just like he exploits bums, Dr. Phil exploits his guests. That's about everything he got to say. Then Dr. Phil addressed his audience telling them that arguing with that man would have been an insult to his intelligence.

The guest obviously wanted to draw a parallel between the Dr. Phil show and his Bum Fights; he even dressed and shaved his head to look like Dr. Phil. As the previous poster said, this is probably what really pissed off Dr. Phil.

:|

That really is despicable. That man deserved to leave.

EDIT: on second thought he really should have stayed on the show, but the guy is an idiot. He isn't doing anything for bums, he's just exploiting them and making them fight each other, and that is a truly evil thing to do. He also should not have dressed up like Dr. Phil, because they were just there to have a civil conversation and debate, and he comes in immediatley ridiculing the guy.

What is despicable is that Dr. Phil invited this man to the show, and then INSULTED the intelligence of his entire audience by telling them that he was kicking the guest out because his Bum Fights were despicable, when in fact he was kicking him out because he dressed and shaved his head like Dr. Phil. That's what is despicable, that this figure of "moral authority" looked straight at his audience and lied about the reason why he kicked his guest out, all the while his audience drowned out the sound of his voice with their cheerful clapping.

If these Bum Fights are that despicable, then why invite the producer to the show and give him free publicity?

And the homeless are doing WHAT for our country? At least they had a purpose in those videos.

Yes, he kicked him out because of his appearance, and Dr. Phil should have just said something like, "You come on to my show, and mock me immediatley?" and kicked him off, rather than bullshitting about the guys bumfight thing.

Is it me, or could he NOT think of any word but despicable? Way to have no vocabulary Captain Fago

I wouldn't have expected anything more from an unethical exploitist psychologist whose only noteworthy accomplishment was his popularization on Oprah.

I think Dr.Phils a great psychologist, how's he unethical?

Well, he knew what the guy was all about before he had him on his show, I'm sure that wasn't the first time he saw that footage( hell, they edited an entire two minute video). So he essentially had him on his show so he could kick him off.

Essentially...Personally that was a shitty move....seriously. What a waste of the guys time.

yah.....i prefer oprah.......
i have to go now
I dislike oprah to.

In fact the only psycology person I like would have to be the dean of our school who is also a psycology teacher. Why? He's the only one who really understands how I think and he has been able to tell me whats going through my mind.
He's really the only person I've met that could describe me better than I could describe myself.

I think it is good that you talked to a psychology teacher and not to some moron who treats patients for a living. I'll leave it at that.

My previous post was spewing with sarcasm by the way.

Meh, she does a lot of good though. No arguments about that.

I saw this video awhile ago, (should be in the video thread), and I think Dr. Phil is a dick. Why bring him on the show if you're going to kick him off anyway?

Probably because he didn't expect the guy to dress up like him so he just used the other excuse as scapegoat.

Dr. Phil is still a giant douche bag and is no better than the guest on the show.

The Making of Dr. Phil

The Making of Dr. Phil [1], a biography by Sophia Dembling, a reporter from the Dallas Morning News, and Lisa Gutierrez, a reporter from the Kansas City Star, probed McGraw's history, with interviews of his childhood friends and former classmates. It reported that McGraw used unethical business practices in a gym business early in his career, that he was abusive to his first wife, and was also abusive to his staff. On the other hand, it noted that he overcame adversity through setting goals and was persistent in achieving success. Notably, the book received no help from McGraw or his associates. [2]

Damn wife beater.

Supplements

In 2003, McGraw entered the weight-loss business, selling shakes, energy bars, and supplements. These products' labels, which carried the brand name "Shape Up", stated: "These products contain scientifically researched levels of ingredients that can help you change your behavior to take control of your weight." This met with swift criticism from various sources,[7] accusing McGraw (a clinical psychologist, and not a physician) of lacking the expertise to recommend weight-loss products. Facing a Federal Trade Commission investigation into Shape Up's claims, McGraw pulled his supplements off the market in March 2004, and the FTC dropped its probe. In October 2005, several people who used McGraw's products declared an intent to file a class-action lawsuit against him, claiming that although the supplements cost $120 per month they did not stimulate weight loss.[8] McGraw settled the suit in September 2006 for $10.5 million. [9] Most of the settlement ($6 million) will be paid to the plaintiffs in the form of Amway (Quixtar) brand Nutrilite vitamins. [3]

Stupid sellout too.

I fail to see how Dr. Phil is "no better" than the guy who pays bums to fight each other on the street and then films it for profit.. :|

Well I guess the bum fights guy is much worse, but Dr. Phil is still a business man with a gimmick.

It's all showbiz. Dr. Phil is out to make a buck, like every other person in showbiz; and if you are in showbiz, you are probably a hypocrite too, because nobody wants to watch the real "you" on the screen.

Unless the real "you" happens to be an oily, well-toned exhibitionist lesbian sex kitten.

Dr. Phil gives good sound advice, his show is enjoyable and from what I've seen of him, I respect him greatly.

Isn't he a Christian?
Tehehehe
Don't start that again!

Actually i was watching one episode where some gypsies were making a business where you could talk to him over the phone if you payed them a bunch of dough, but they were full of crap. So he busted them, personally, right on TV.

BAM!

He's a Christian? He's still a sound psychologist, just not as rational as I thought.
