I have never been interested in this and never will , Duke Nukem isnt for our time , its too 80's and has barley any plot at all (as do other classic games like doom 1 , quake 1 etc) both doom and quake were converted to have plots and they failed misserably imo (with the exeption of quake 2) so classic games should stay classic imo.

Snakes on a Plane came out in 2006 and was a financial success. Duke has more story than it does.

Also, Doom and Quake and classic id games in general had pretty much literally zero plot. For Doom, the story was in the manual. Duke had more plot than they did, though nothing like we have today. At least one version even had CG cutscenes between each episode. I think Duke will fare much better having more plot than Doom or Quake.

One thing I would love to see, at least in a collector's edition or something like that - the previous versions of the game! Pre-alpha-betas showing parts of the game on Quake 2, Unreal 1.0, then Unreal 2.x, and whatever else they were working on. Lameduke was released, so why not these things?

Sure, a "making of" video would be nice if lame duke forever isn't going to be released. Someone on the 3drealms forum said that it would be nice if, for example, Georige Broussard commented on the game and showed stuff like "this is what we wanted to do, that's how it came out and this is why we scrapped it".

We shall see, the game is still quite some time away - although George said they're at the final polishing level now, but I might have read it wrong

I'll take it. If for nothing else because the FPS genre has been as dry as a geriatric woman's baby hole for going on 2 years now. That, and the fact that I love the simplistic nature of what a new Duke game should be. It's amazing to me how many years they've dawdled when the formula should really be so simple; kick ass and chew bubblegum, amiright?

Its nice that they kept the shrink ray and the 3 barrelled machine gun.

But if this anything like the 2001 trailer, it should be an interesting game, especially if they join the bandwagon of user achivements, and possibly a Steam Release

Agreed. That trailer still looks better than most FPS games that are released today.
