Ok, my first memory of gaming might seem pretty sad to you guys, but i'll tell you anyway. Since i'm a bit of a youngin' it's from pokemon red version (lol). I tried to climb up a mountain using an escape rope and it wouldn't let me. I was wondering why

I was only about 7 at the time ok!

I'd forgotten that too. Battle Chess was ace, and the main reason bothered learning to play the game as a kid. I've a soft spot for Alone in the Dark too. Without that we wouldn't have had Resident Evil. A return to the spooky mansion creeping would be nice.

my fondest was getting about 3/4 of the way through Sonic2 at age. . .5?

but my earliest would be playing some mickey mouse game on DOS. . .

ya. . . .Genesis was amazing. . .that's why i still like Sega over Nintendo to this day. . . .as in i collect anything that has sega stamped on it. . .

and then there was N64. . .ah. . .i remember how happy i was when i beat the second hardest diffuculty on it. . . .that was HARD. . .partly cause i was 6 and partly cause it was hard. . .that and Star Fox. . and Battletanx. . .ya, n64 was MY system growin up. . .even when bigger better stuff came out. . i still was rockin the N64

OOoo, Battle Chess. That might actually trump Populous as the first game I plyed on my step-father's old 286. I didn't buy it though--I got it off a friend.

The absolute first computer game I owned was a Demon Attack cartridge for the Vic 20. You heard me right, the Vic 20.

Yep, Riptor and Glacius. Glacius was the man; his teleport move was crazy. You could hit your opponent front and back in succession, making it hard to combo break him.

My earliest gaming memory would be one of the Tomb Raider games where you had to get across mud you could sink into or quick sand. I could never do that so I remeber going to the mansion and trying to kill the butler.

The original Mechwarrior, and Mechwarrior 2. Those were the days, when a destroyed limb didnt just hang there, it blew off and your mech would fall to the ground, one leg flailing.

lol, me and my bro would always play that game, and the main draw to it was leading the butler into the walk-in freezer in the kitchen, and running out really quick and then closing it.. lol. Good times.

My earliest gaming memory was when I was 3, playing Donkey Kong on NES (it was the one where you had to climb ladders and go up level to level, then jump on Donkey Kong at the top.

Hah! I locked the butler in that freezer on Tomb Raider II so many times (one of my first PS1 games)

Lead him into the back, jump over his head, rush for the button - rinse, repeat ^_^

Edit - Anyone else manage to get into the secret treasure room in the mansion by unlocking it in the hedge maze? I did - only once. I was so freakin dissapointed when there turned out to be nothing of real use in there...

Mine was playing this game where you had to shoot parachuters before they landed and destroyed your big gun. I don't remember what it was called, but it was on my grandfather's Apple IIplus. There were two colors... green and black.
